I have an 870 w/ an 18" barrel and the Scattergun Tech ghost ring system installed. Since I've been getting into clay shooting and would like to go duck hunting, I bought a 28" barrel threaded for chokes.

Here's the problem, it is a vent rib barrel w/ a bead sight and I'm not sure how well it will work with the rear ghost ring sights. I reflexively try to center the bead in the rear sight, which [I think] would cause the POI to be above the POA. Should I have a blade sight installed on the barrel? Should I try to remove the rear sight each time I use the longer barrel? Should I just have bought a new shotgun?

Thanks in advance.

Try just flat out IGNORING the rear sight and see what happens.

A lot of defense shooters point the gun like a sporting gun, and use the sights as a "reference" or "flash sight picture".
In other words, we don't actually align their sights or even actually look through them.

During the Vietnam war the Army taught the "Quick Kill" course that taught people how to shoot the M-16 as an instinctive, pointed weapon.

In the early part of the course, after switching to a real M-16, the sights were covered. Later the student was taught to just ignore the sights and point the rifle.

If you have trouble with you eye trying to acquire the peep rear, try covering the peep with black tape.

Give it a try, you have nothing to loose.

Thanks for the advice dfariswheel. I'm going to the range tomorrow, so I'll see how many clays I can bust.
