ok this is a complete shot in the dark. I hadn't heard of these guns until recently. it's essential a Beretta M9 clone with a couple differences. the first is a frame mounted safety instead of the slide mounted horrible safeties that beretta is so fond of. the second is that the frame has fingergrooves. other than that, it looks pretty similar in almost every way to the M9. I know nothing about Girsan, or the company importing them, Zenith. I was wondering if anyone has owned this gun, and what their impressions are regarding quality, fit/finish, trigger, accuracy, reliability, etc.

It also appears to have a dovetailed front sight.

OTOH, it has one-piece wrap-around grips and the frame has no back strap.

They are actually Centurion sized - full grip, shorter barrel/slide.

I've talked to people who shot them extensively - they work fine.

oookay... thanks for the input guys, but I was hoping more than a secondhand assessment than... they work fine.
like I said in the OP, it is kindof a shot in the dark since first hand info is in pretty low supply for english speaking people.

They just aren't very common. You'd have the same problems getting info about a range of oddball firearms.

But they are nearly identical to Berettas, and like Taurus, Vektor and a number of other 92 spin offs, they work very well and can take Beretta parts. Depending on how cheap they are, it might be a good buy, but we are talking about a Turkish clone that isn't commonly imported.

It doesn't answer your question but I would be concerned about if Beretta magazines will fit.

The Taurus is close to the original Beretta design. It has the frame mounted safety, warranty although Taurus makes it right the first time and extra magazines are available.

They use Beretta magazines, because it is a copy of the later Berettas with their decocker and mag release. The Taurus design parted ways from the Beretta before either had been developed, so Taurus added those features separately from how Beretta did.

so, as I am understanding, Taurus mags wouldn't work with the girsan but beretta would and vice versa?

Yup. No one uses the Taurus release but Taurus. All the other 92 clones use the Beretta cut.

The Llama I've never heard about exactly, but it is less of close clone than the Vektor, Girsan, Taurus, etc.

I would question some parts compatibility between the Girsan and Beretta frames.

Here is a review of the MC39 with a lot of photos - unfortunately, the review is written in Turkish.
