Giuliani to consider presidential run

You know, if Guliani or McCain get the ticket, I expect to see arguments on this board supporting them. "Well, McCain is bad, but Hillary is unthinkable!" If we get one of them nominated, this is exactly what the Republican party will expect as well -- like gunnies are gonna vote for a Clinton!

It's time to support people who support us. Not people who will (hopefully) ignore us a little longer and keep things from getting worse, just for a while...

I think Cheney will develop a medical problem in the next 12 months, and Bush will select his heir apparent to replace him. It'll either be McCain or Giuliani.

You know if the Dems had any brains at all, they would get a candidate that is a Oregon/Vermont style Democrat that is pro-gun. (Or at least appears that way.) If they could get someone with Clinton or Obama's verbal acumen, (Something the last few candidates on both sides have been sorely lacking,) that fit that profile, they could get a lot of votes.

They could really hammer the Republicans on Gun Control, (Starting from Bush senior's original AW import ban,) while writing off their own eff-ups as "Taking a new direction in personal freedoms."

But I doubt that would ever happen.

Well, as much as I dislike some of the things Huckabee has done to appease the 3/4 DemoRAT majority of this state, he is someone I consider to be the best candidate. I would vote for him with more zeal than I did for Bush. Which is like saying I have more zeal for mosquito bites rather than poison ivy, but I digress.

He is pro-gun, does actually do conservative things, and is getting more name recognition every day. However, his decision that teachers have to take away sweet treats that are sent from home in lunches is disturbing. If I have kids and I give them a Coke in their lunch on Friday, I dont want some nosy teacher taking it away. Its stupid. Republicans arent supposed to increase and bloat the government and pass laws that usurp the rights of individuals.

I agree totally. That line of thinking is why Bush was elected twice. I have no idea who I will vote for in 2008, but I will need a better reason than "at least he is not Hillary".

This was a topic recently on one of our morning talk shows and the consensus was that he was a longshot. Evidently, he has a few problems that haven't been made public. Of course, that begs the question, if they haven't been made public, how do folks know that they exist? Hillary-McCain is the ticket. McCain has repeatedly denied that he might change parties, but he sure loves to hang with Hillary. For the Republicans, Bush is trying to ruin the party. Conservatives might just stay at home. Of course, the urge to vote against Hillary may trump all else.

I personally like Rudy, but to say I have a problem with his gun stance is a big understatement. I like him better than McStain and Hillary, but I don't know if I can vote for him in a general.

The primary - no way.

If we can at this early stage be made to believe that it is Rudy or McEgo for the Republican nomination, we can be equally certain that the Libertarian Party will throw up some irrelevancy who spends his time arguing how the 16th Amendment wasn't really ratified.

The LP--Taking you nowhere fast since 1971.
