I would like to wall mount a pistol in a display case, and am looking for some advice. For fun, it will look approximately like this, with ghost lettering on the bottom glass quite large that says "IN CASE OF ZOMBIES BREAK GLASS" with "UMBRELLA CORPORATION" in the top right corner small. :neener:

Its a lockable case, and I plan to screw the entire case into studs into the wall w/ a reinforcement plate inside, but:

1) I still need to be able to easily remove the firearm when taking it to the range or locking it in my proper safe when I'm away for a while.

2) The foam is not particular thick, and I'm not sure the proper way to secure it so everything stays in place (is it typically cut for example?).

Note that the DEagle is unfortunately quite heavy. Ideas?

LOL, it's kinda a cute idea. IF I was doing something like this I would just keep an airsoft in the case. None of my real guns will be unsecured outside of anything other than my big nasty safe except the one I'm carrying. This would solve the security issue as well as the weight. No one's gonna know its airsoft and you'll still have the real deal.

Foam is typically cut with a hot wire cutter. If you have a regulated power supply(such as for a radio), some PVC, guitar strings and some ingenuity, they are not difficult to build. A cheap-o soldering iron works well for doing detail work. Also be sure to wear proper protection as the fumes given off are toxic. No ideas on the mounting though, I could dream up a quick release bracket in a heartbeat, but don't know any any current production stuff.

Rare earth magnets are super strong and if covered with cloth PROBABLY wouldn't scratch the gun. I say probably because I have never tried it. If it were me I would do a short black painted dowel rod inside the trigger guard and covered magnets to keep it in place.

Any craft store will sell the tools to cut and shape foam, but as previously stated they are not hard to make if you have the pieces and know how. To secure the foam I would use the 3M spray adhesive. It is really strong but if if I recall, I haven't used it in a while, it's best to spray both the foam and wood when applying.

Excellent idea on the neodymium magnets, I have seen how crazy strong those can be, and that would provide an invisible mount.

That would be less of a hassle with an airsoft replica for the case, so I think you're right and that is the more responsible route to go. Now I'll just need to research what a reasonable replica for a chrome DEagle would be that won't break the bank as I didn't even think of it as I have very little experience with airsoft equipment. Thanks! :)
