I recently bought a 6.5 Grendel upper by Precision Firearms And a timney trigger for my lower with the intent of hunting for next year but I would also like to do some long range shooting from the bench. I am torn on what glass to mount on this rig.
I have held a Vortex Viper PST and the Bushnell 6500 and liked both. I like the idea of exposed turrets for the range but an skeptical about them not moving when I go trudging in a swamp or up a mountain laurel thicket.
Just looking for someone who maybe has experience with such a set-up. Main features I am looking for are 30mm tube, low power from 2-4 and high power 10-16, and objective of 40 to 50 mm. $600 maybe pushing to $700 budget.

Viper PST really interesting to me because I know of a smoking deal and its the only one I have taken outside the gunshop into natural light to see how it really looks.

I put a Weaver Super Slam 3-15x50 on my 458 SOCOM,and have been very happy with it.They have excellent glass, side focus, and exposed target turrets that push down and lock in place.
I got it from Natchez Shooters Supply on sale for $350.
It is almost as clear as any of my Sightron SIII scopes, which have very good glass.
