glenfield 60

Congrats on the new rifle. I hope yo like it. If not, I'll PM you my address :D
I have a Glenfield 60 with the squirrel from 1975 and just picked up a Marlin 60 from 1984 last weekend.
The one I just bought has the shattered buffer, found when I took it apart to clean it.
I ordered a 3 pack off Ebay and they should be here tomorrow.
The buffers look to be 3D printed, so we'll see how they fit and hold up.
For $9.75 and free shipping for 3 of them, I thought it was worth a try.

Good onya.....I absolutely loved mine, still have it, but unfortunately it is broken. Probably went thru 50k rounds with it from the time I got it at 14 yrs old.
Loved that 18 round tube magazine

I would NOT be taking these out in the woods and shooting these much if at all.

These are getting increasingly collectible as time goes on. The squirrel stocks alone are fetching $$$ on the auction sites.

The Marlin 60 will probably never be made again, and these squirrel stock Glenfield variants are highly sought after and it’s only going to increase as time goes on.

Like the Remington Nylon 66, these guns are best left in the condition they are so future collectors can enjoy them and pass them down for generations to come. We have other modern options for field guns that won’t see collectors status for decades.

Yes the Marlins are starting to increase in value. Heck the rear sight on my Marlin Model 99M1 is worth more than I gave for the whole rifle.

I have one with a squirrel stock and one with an oak leaf stock. One is an ‘82 the other is ‘79. One is a great shooter and the other not so much. I think it was mostly abuse at the hands of my step brother, though he certainly ate good while he had it. I keep one stock and the other has a Nikon Rimfire II. I just bought a new 10/22 and plan to have a shoot off to see which shoots better with the biggest variety of ammo.
I have a 96 10/22 and I think the marlin is more accurate.

I feel like that’s probably true. The 10/22 might out shoot the Marlin with its preferred ammo, which is only one kind. However the Marlin shoots basically everything about the same. It shoots CCI SV slightly better than others but the difference is small. Switching the 10/22 from CCI SV to CCI MiniMags will double the group size.

I have found that for the most part, the Marlin Model 60 and Model 70 to be more accurate than a Ruger 10/22 straight out of the box. Where the 10/22 shines is all of the available aftermarket parts. My Marlin Model 70 is definitely more accurate than my Model 60 or Model 99M1.
