Glock 17- 9mm Gen 3. Had it for many years.
When in condition 1 with round in chamber and loaded magazine inserted, when the slide is then pulled rearward to cycle the action manually, the rim of the round coming out of the chamber will catch on the case mouth of the next round underneath and will not allow manual cycling, unless you drop the mag.

No other Glocks of mine do this, nor did this firearm do this until recently.

Id assume extractor is worn or the spring is worn, allowing the manually ejected round to dip lower, making contact and catching on the round beneath.

No issues in the course of firing. But if a FTF occurred it would be a process to remove chambered round by dropping the magazine.

Any input appreciated. Contacted Glock and they said theyve never heard of that happening.....id assume the guy who told me that was a newbie.

If you've tested this with other ammo and other magazines systematically with no change in behavior - then you know it's something about the pistol. Field strip and see if a round will be held against the breech face by extractor tension.

Ruled out magazines and ammo. They all do it.
Ill try what you said, great idea. Also test with newer stiffer glocks as a control group.

Try a different extractor.

Check to see if rail tabs aren't pulling out of the frame. Or the center rail under the slide is too worn or short. I can't see any reasonable way for my 34.4 to do this.

I wonder if he meant he had not heard of it being an issue that they would address under warranty.

Bear in mind that the extractor isn't meant to control a spent case, much less a live round, after it has been extracted from the chamber. This is the Glock feature that causes the famous Brass-to-Face...it commonly occurs somewhere north of 1100 rounds

Why would you want to eject a live round while a magazine is still inserted?

If you have a FTF(ire) malfunction the usual remedy is to Tap-Rack. If that doesn't clear the malfunction, the next step would be to strip the magazine, clear the chamber and reload...so you'd be dropping the magazine as part of the process anyway

Does it do it with the Glock turned to the side, as if clearing a malfunction?

My Glock 19 Gen 3 does this, too. It causes no malfunctions with regular ammo, but jams like a mofo with some Shell Shock NAS3 cases.

So it is an ammunition specific malfunction? Never had that with my original Glock 17L, no matter what it was fed. I did have the fail to lock to the rear, due to using the slide release like a 1911 too much.

My G17, gen 4 does this with G9 ammo..but nothing else. New full magazine in, cycle slide to put one in chamber, try a second slide aft manually with live round..will not pull fully aft, will not extract the live round. Firing it, it works fine. WITH New extractor and recoil spring. It really isn't a big deal for me since it works/fires/cycles just fine at the range.
G9 does have a 2 piece, nickel alloy/aluminum case.
