Glock 17 trigger questions

I shoot a lot of Glocks. Most of mine get a polish job and good connector. Bought a few aftermarket triggers and never saw improvement worth what I paid until the Timney Competition trigger. It is outstanding and well worth the price.

They say it’s not for carry, so buyer beware, but just a sweet trigger! I’ve got it in my G44 trainer.

I've heard mixeds reviews on the Timney. I if wouldn't have heard about reset issues I probably would have ordered one while I was waiting my 10 days before pick up.

I will probably have to wait until next weekend to go shoot it again since I installed the 6 lb striker spring. I guess that will determine if I keep it or send it.

At the risk of over generalizing, messing with aftermarket connectors, springs, firing pins, polishing, etc. will not get you a better trigger than a Timney Alpha. And with a Timney, you won't experience primer ignition faults. A Glock with a Timney is no less safe than a CZ Shadow 2 or Tactical Sport, (neither of which have firing pin blocks). But I will admit that the vast majority of shooters lack the competence to run 3 lb. triggers.

Both of those are completion oriented guns. My TS has a 1lb trigger that I am perfectly happy with... However, its not a carry gun nor would ever dream of using it for anything other than when a buzzer goes off.
Of all the Glock triggers out there over the decades, too much negativity surrounding the Timney IMO.

Over the years from many trials and tribulations keep the stock striker spring. It will only lead to malfunction drills when its changed.

I’ve not heard of issues with them personally. I know Timney is a solid company and would be responsive to customer issues.

Mine has been flawless in a G19 and G44

I bought the Timney for my 17 and agree completely. My 17 went from my worst striker fired trigger to my best . I put the factory connector and striker spring back in it to bring it up to 2 1/8 lbs . Even so it doesn’t compare to my STI . Apples and oranges

There is at least one thread about how the Timney Glock trigger will fail the drop safety test. That is a proven fact that it does fail that test. And I have heard others having reset issues with it too.

I’d read about the drop test results. I took my G19 and (unloaded) dropped it 5-6 times on my concrete floor from different angles and at least 3-4 feet. It never went off. I also banged it on my workbench pretty hard, different angles. Same results. Still, I took the conservative stance and took it out and put it in my G44. Did the same tests with the G44 and no striker engage.

But I’m only a sample of one.

Can’t speak for others , but I couldn’t get mine to fail . I was whacking it with a 2 x 4 . Finally took out the safety plunger to get it to fail . With the safety plunger out , the striker went forward 9 times out of 10 . Just my experience.

We were given an equipment allowance, so when my agency transitioned to Glocks in the 90's, I ordered a 26 with tritium sights.

First appearance at the range, our armorers replaced the trigger with a NY++, 12 lb. I still was able to fire expert with it.

Now 13 years retired, haven't touched anything, figure the gun is capable as it is, and I'm used to it. Still able to pass annual LEOSA/HR218 re-qual with it.
