in the magazine so whats a reliable bet you life on 9mm that you can conceal
would you look at or have spending money would be $600 tops
thanks

You said it glock 19 15 or 17 round mags one in the chamber so 16 or 18 total that sounds good to me btw I carry a gen 3 glock 19 and I love it I got mine for 500 otd so it fits your budget and you can buy a holster and some ammo for it also for range fun 33 round fun stick

IMO, if you are going to own just one handgun, the Glock 19 is a good choice and I have recommended it to several people.

You said "concealable". That was my problem with the G19.

You will have to try it and see if you can make it work.
I couldn't--just too fat (the gun, not me--I'm only 145#).
I sold my G19 (and to be fair, a number of others that I couldn't make work either).
I have a Kahr PM9 that I am very happy with for pocket carry...and a Kahr P45 that I am very happy with for IWB.
Thin, light, accurate and reliable.

Single stack, I'm good to go--even a 4" 1911.
Double stack anything...nope, ain't gonna happen.

YMMV.

You can't go wrong with most name brand handguns. I personally carry a Glock 17.
What firearm to choose will depend on what works for you. I encourage you to experiment with different firearms until you find one that fits you.

well i can conceal a ruger SP101 with a 3" barrel ok in a crossbread holster
i have not yet had a Glock 19 in my hands as of yet im 6' 180 ish
i would like to have one main gun for SD/HD i know there will be times
when i will carry my XDS like on real hot days but for the most part
i would just like to have one pistol and know it well

My g19 was too fat for me too. Over the years I have carried a 1911 gm, Browning hp, S & W J & K frames. The older I get I find myself carrying smaller, lighter guns, but hey, if it works for you go for it.

Don't knock all SA stuff just because of the XDs recall. An XDsc 9 might suit you very well if you can handle a double stack. Just slightly bigger than a G26.

im ok with the double stack i may look at the XDsc but right now
springfield has left a bad taste in my mouth

I my self looked at the g19 with the opposite issue. I have a small SIG p938 but it only holds 7 rounds of 9mm. I wanted something a little larger with more capacity and power I got the glock 30s.It is about the same size as the glock 19 but it is a 10 + 1 , in 45acp. I never saw the point of the xds cause of the 5 round magazine. If I could only get 5 rounds why not have a 357 mag revolver. Anyway I have owned the xdsc 9mm in the past great gun I just thought it was very heavy and didn't like the feel in my hand. The glock 26 and 19 are both awesome guns good capacity worth the purchase. By the way I love the 30s too

I got my XD-S 9mm back from the recall and put 250 FMJ and 13 JHP trouble-free rounds through it. Swapped out the rear sight to an AmeriGlo block sight (to facilitate one-handed slide-racking), added a Talon Grips decal, and it's riding on my belt as I type.

I don't know what your build is -- I'm 6'0", 175 lbs, and have a 33" waist, and I basically had no problem concealing a G19 when I had one. Wound up trading it for a G26 because (1) the Gen3 backstrap didn't fit my hand very well, and (2) sitting in the car carrying the G19 strongside got uncomfortable after a while (the G26 is more comfortable with the shorter grip).

For several reasons, I decided I wanted a thinner carry pistol, so the XD-S has been getting the nod as of late (I had a Kahr PM9 in the past -- the XD-S feels better in my hand). The XD-S and the G19 may swing more towards the extremes, with the G26 straddling in between the two. Can't really go wrong with any of the three, IMO. (And a Gen4 G19 is on my "to buy" list.)

I EDC a SIG SP2022 (15+1) 9mm, it's the largest I can carry comfortably (6'1", 200lbs). The SP2022 has multiple backstraps available, very good DA/SA trigger, excellent reputation and is very affordable.

Nothing wrong with the Glock 19 but I preferred the overall feel of the Ruger SR9c. It's a better fit for my smaller hand and you have a spare mag which holds 17 rounds.

Get the G19. I carry a G26 daily...might buy a G19 just for range duty next. I'd prefer the G26 to the G19 for edc.

I carry a G19 in a crossbreed holster. At times I wished it was thinner, but it has been so reliable that I put up with it.

A while back, I decided that I wanted a polymer 9mm. I absolutely detest buyer's remorse, so I read reviews, handled pistols at gun shows, did just about everything except actually rent them at the range, and this went on for months. (Yes, I know that I should have rented a couple, but opportunities for that are limited around here, and I just couldn't make both time and money coalesce to do so.)

I looked at the:
  • S&W M&P 9mm
  • SA XD_, in a variety of 9mm versions, but this was before the XDs came out;
  • CZ P-07 Duty
  • Glock 19
  • Ruger SR9 and SR9c

Honestly, any one of the above would have served my purposes, and I probably would have been happy with any of them. Of those in competition with the G19, in particular, the SR9 and SR9c were very, very tempting. I eventually wound up with the Glock and after carrying it for about 6 months, wrote A Grudging Review of the Glock 19. As I said, any of the above-listed guns would have been fine, I'm sure, but the G19 was the best combination of price, features, caliber, capacity, etc. for me.

i too hate buyers remorse and right now thats what i have with the XDs
it looks like i need to take a trip to my LGS and have a look
thanks for all the replys

The Glock 19 is a great gun. The 26 is almost as good.

If you can conceal a SP101 with 3" barrel, then you can conceal a Glock 19. The Glock 26 is a bit smaller than the standard SP101. Here are some photos comparing the SP101 with the Glock 26:

The Glock 19 is a lot easier to conceal than most people realize, and the holsters that make it possible are abundant. After carrying a Ruger SR9c for more than a year, I decided to transition away from having an external thumb safety. I got my first Glock 19/23/32 frame pistol, and started playing with holster, belt, and carry location. It did not take long at all to realize that I could easily carry and conceal this pistol all year long, whether wearing Winter clothes, or Summer clothing (shorts & tshirt).

Tricks for concealing a Glock 19 (IWB):
- good gun belt. I use a BladeTech Looper. There are many other, equally solid choices. This will prevent any sagging at the belt, and will distribute the weight so that you don't feel like one side is being dragged down.

- hybrid IWB holster*: hybrid holsters typically have 2 belt loops or clips, with the firearm riding between them. Again, this helps distribute weight, so that all of the weight isn't dragging down through a single clip location. The two loop/clip system also helps manage the angle of the grip and secures the location of the holster while carrying. No flopping or rotating, at all. Most of these are tuckable, as well. They are also very FLAT-- substantially moreso than they appear to be when you're holding it in hand. When your belt goes through the loops/clips and over the kydex, it creates a surprisingly invisible 'pocket' for the firearm.

- my own special secret: wife beaters. I buy quality beaters, which aren't expensive, but are slightly thicker material than cheaper ones. I use these as a second layer under my tshirt, which helps kill any printing. Because they're tank top cuts, they don't make heat an issue.

Here are some pics pulled from Google Images of hybrid holsters in use:

HAHA! I even found one of my own pics on Google Images! This is actually me, with one of the 'beaters I wear visible, wearing my Galco King Tuk with cargo shorts:
