I recently bought a Gen 2 Glock 19 from a retired NYPD officer. I carried the same model on that same job many years ago but sold it. It has the NY2 trigger in it, as my old one did.

Took it shooting today. 100 rounds of my reloads. No failures. But the trigger definitely pinched my finger. Right on the recoil, I can feel it. I think it’s getting pinched by the internal blade in the trigger. Doesn’t happen when dry firing. Don’t recall it ever happening with my old duty gun.

I’m most likely going to put a NY1 trigger in there, but I doubt it’s the NY2 trigger spring causing it. Anybody else have this issue?

The 19 has a serrated and the 17 has a smooth trigger. You can buy a 17 trigger to replace it for cheap. My 23 irritates my finger but I never got around to switching out the trigger. I think they used to be about $20.

Try placing your finger a little higher on the trigger. I’ve seen where some shooters place their finger very low on the trigger when shooting a Glock.

The Glock 23s come with the same serrated trigger. I replace them with smooth triggers and I file down the trigger safety so that when pressed, it is flush with the body of the trigger. You have to do this with care. If too much is taken off of the top of the safety it will flop around loose and be worthless. And it's not it's not much. If you're not comfortable with your own pistolsmithing I wouldn't try it without at least one spare.

To meet the ATF Factoring Criteria for imported handguns, Glock sub compact and compact pistol come from Austria with a grooved trigger. That qualifies as a "target trigger" and helps in the points for importation.

G17's meet that point criteria and don't need the grooved trigger.

Or you can just instal a new flat trigger. There are many on the market.

What's the deal with the trigger in the FDE?

Judging from how the face if the trigger aligns with the trigger pivot pin on the frame, it looks like it would be a much shorter reach to the trigger than the black one.

My challenge with glocks is that I have short fingers making the reach to the trigger a little far for me.

The trigger on the FDE frame is a CMMG trigger. It does give a shorter reach and is smooth. Rest is also very nice.
If you have short fingers, the Gen4 and Gen5 guns have a 1/4” shorter length of pull.

My 17L had a grooved trigger with a trigger blade that stuck out too far as I pressed it. The grooved trigger/pointy blade combo was awful and drove me nuts.

For those who may be unfamiliar, the grooved trigger on Glock 19:

The smooth trigger on Glock 34:

I put an Apex trigger in the 17L, and another one in my Gen 3 Desert Camo 17 build, and the trigger feel on both is great.

When the trigger is reset they do sit forward quite a bit, but the flat trigger reach doesn’t appear to be any more than the original ones do.

I will say the 43X trigger also had a blade that stuck out and felt awful, so I put a Viking Tactics trigger on it. This one will pinch my fingertip when I’m firing. I think the smaller grip frame lets me put too much finger on the trigger so the tip gets pinched against the frame.

The other Glocks I have use the stock triggers, both grooved and smooth, as those don’t have the annoying protruding trigger blade issue.

If you choose to swap trigger assemblies it is really easy to do. I think if you do you’ll like the new feel over stock .

Stay safe.
