Hi THR,
I'm guessing the CZ Forum probably is a better place to ask this question but I thought I'd check here first as I follow THR quite a bit...

I shot both Glock 19 Gen 5 and a CZ P10C (both 9mm) rentals about a week ago. I liked both but preferred the overall feel, shooting and handling of the P10C more. However, when I fired the P10C I got noticeable trigger pinch which is something that I didn't feel with the Glock 19.

I took a look at aftermarket triggers for the CZ P10C and it seems to me that both HBI Industries and Cajun Gun Works are the two main folks selling aftermarket P10C triggers. I like the CGW trigger but do not like the adjustable pre-travel screw as I feel it is one more thing to go wrong at the worst possible time...which leaves me looking at the HBI Industries trigger.

Is there anyone here that uses a CZ P10C with an HBI trigger? If so, does it mitigate any trigger finger pinching or pain after moderate use? Or...should I just forget the P10C entirely due to the trigger pinch on the OEM trigger?

Thanks - BluesDancer

I have both the first and second version HBI triggers for my P10C and do not find them to reduce trigger pinch much. I currently have the CGW adjustable unit in the gun but the slide kept locking back when I tried to test it. I had changed recoil spring also so I'm not sure if it's related to the trigger or not. In the few shots I fired it felt better than my OEM or HBI trigger but probably stops short of totally eliminating the issue.

Looking at pics of current production P10s they seem to have longer triggers than my original one, the HBIs or the CGW triggers I have. I ordered some OEM triggers as parts from CZUSA but haven't installed one to see if it's any longer than the one that came in my (2 year-old) gun. My guess is they're no different. It's the gap between the end of the trigger and the trigger guard that causes the problem, so the longer the better.

I have a PC-10C, gotten in trade, and it had a painful trigger bite when I shot it. I installed the BHI trigger. While there's still a tiny bit of "bite" it seems to be slowly going away, becoming less noticeable each time I go to the range.. I'm glad I changed the trigger. This trigger bite doesn't seem to be a common problem, but it occurs often enough to be discussed among CZ P10c owners.

I participate on the CZ Forum, and have asked there -- more than once -- what causes this behavior in both striker-fired and hammer-fired guns, and have yet to get a good answer. I read one response to my question that seemed to partially address a cause for some gun, but for the life of me I can't recall what was said. (I probably kept a copy, but finding where I stashed it on my PC is a problem. :) ) It ought NOT be a problem -- or when a problem, one that can be resolved by a mnor tweak to a part or two.

I experienced the same thing. I tried the HBI trigger as well as the CGW trigger, and while those two options reduced it I still felt the bite. I filed the face of the factory trigger, smoothing and flattening it, and that gave me the best results. I was careful not to file it so much that I'd have an issue with the trigger safety. The bite is still there a little and 200-300 rounds is my limit before it gets too painful. I shoot that gun more accurately than any other gun I own. When I'm at the range with it I put a band aid or tape over my trigger finger, which allows me to shoot it pain free.

I picked up a P10C a little over a month or so back. The trigger on mine wasnt bad, and it didnt have any slap or pinch to it while shooting it. When you say "pinch", do you mean that accumulative "slap" pain you used to get with the old US made AK compliance triggers?

What I didnt like about my P10's trigger, was it was mushy and soft as hell, and almost felt weak when it let off. It wasnt a clean "snap" like you get with the Glocks. I was half expecting to get light strikes, although I never did.

Ran great without the suppressor mounted. Never had any problems. Not so much with it on there though, and was basically a single shot for about 200 rounds until it started to wear in. After that, it ran pretty well, but Id still get a stoppage or two every hundred rounds or so.

Just wasnt floating my boat, so I traded it off last week for a 3" S&W 65. :)

The BITE I mentioned above feels like a slap to the trigger finger as the gun is fired. I don't think, in my case, that it has much to do with the interaction of the trigger and the finger as I press the trigger.

I have had guns with painful triggers that just didn't fit my finger, and I know how to smooth them out or round off sharp edges, etc. That was the case with my CZ 85 Combat -- and I just rounded the edges. I've also tweaked a few Glock-like triggers with sandpaper over the years.

I have three P-10s and really haven't had this issue ever, but that's just me. Either HBI or CGW are good outfits, but I know CGW much better and would buy from them based on previous experience. Again, just me being me.

Ah...between this conversation and checking some online chatter about this topic think I'm understanding something now. With striker-fired pistols, in particular the CZ P10 series, it seems to me that there are two distinct trigger-specific issues, trigger BITE and trigger PINCH. It sounds to me as if the bite has to do with the trigger dingus somehow whereas the pinch has to do with getting finger skin caught in the clearance between the bottom of the trigger and the trigger guard. Does that sound about right?

Hey Ray - just to double-confirm, by pinch your saying that your finger still gets pinched between the bottom of both HBI triggers and the trigger guard when firing, is that right? Just making sure as I think for me I experienced the pinch but not any bite with the OEM trigger unit.

And also, if you ever do install the recent OEM trigger you bought from CZUSA, let me know if there is any difference. When I rented the P10C, I didn't ask if their rental P10C was an early model or later model and I wouldn't know how to easily tell anyways. Not saying it would make a difference, but who knows?

Thanks!
