I considering getting another Glock 19, and see you can find used G19C's, the compensated model, and wondering if there is any real benefit?

Barsto offers ported G19 barrels with the port out in front of the pistol, with a choice of 1, 2, or 3 ports. I'm wondering if this style is more effective?

Also, does anyone know if going to 3 ports on this in 9mm could adversely affect function, e.g. failure to cycle 100% ?

I had a 17C for a long time. It was louder than a standard 17 and the front sight tended to get quite dirty. In 9mm I didn't really see the need for it but perhaps the .40 and 45s would be a little softer shooting.

I have a 19 and a 19C.
Glock factory porting reduces muzzle flip at the expense of a little velocity.
Glock 19c:
Golden Saber 124 gr. +P @ 1,126 fps / 349# KE
Ranger T 127 gr. +P+ @ 1,181 fps / 393# KE
Glock 19:
Golden Saber 124 gr. +P @ 1,152 fps / 365# KE
Ranger T 127 gr. +P+ @ 1,224 fps / 423# KE

I also have the Lone Wolf extended ported barrel, reduces muzzle flip a little and increases velocity.
Glock 19 stock barrel:
HST 147 gr. +P @ 1,035 fps
HST 124 +P @ 1,200 fps
Glock 19 Lone Wolf extended ported barrel:
HST 147 gr. +P @ 1,068 fps
HST 124 +P @ 1,223 fps

I have the 19C (and about 10 more Glocks) and the 19C is my daily carry gun, except summer (G43). The lack of flip was a little weird at first, and I can feel the slightest puff of air in my face when I fire it. Its not violent or hot or anything, just a slight "puff". For me, this translates to less recovery between shots, so more lead on target, more faster, more accurate. I fired a few rounds of wolf in the dark to see if there would be a "flash bang" effect causing temporary night blindness (like some people claimed it would do) and it wasn't bad at all. A couple of sparks.

Recoil reduction is more noticeable in the .40 than the 9mm. Still many folks enjoy the novelty (?) of a compensated 9mm and shoot them alot.

Forgot to mention- I got mine a year ago NIB for $475 OTD. I got it cause I always wanted to try one, and I knew after a mag or 2 that I would know if it was a keeper or not. If not, I knew I could get my $ back, so I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained. Turned out to be a good choice and a keeper. After the first range session, I added trjicons and we pretty much got married - at least as far as EDC goes.
