A friend down the street is offering to sell me a Glock 21 he picked up a few weeks ago at a pawn shop for what he paid, $250.

1. Is this a good price?

2. What should I look for in issues with this pistol?

3. Where can I get a good price on extra magazines for it?

I've never shot a Glock before but the price sounds pretty good. I don't have a .45 that I shoot right now but am ready to get 1. Sounds like this might be a good opportunity.

that is a darn good price what generation is it? that is the first question but really that dosen't matter that is a heck of a deal. the biggest issue that you might find is finish wear on the outside but that gives a gun character. why does he want to get rid of it when he has only had it for a short time? that might be a bad sighn or maybe not.

a good place to get magazines is www.natchezss.com or you can sometimes find them on the traiding post for pretty good.

Seems like a good price...at $250 you could try it & if you don't like it, you can still get you money back out of it.

I would recommend going out to range with him and running a box or 2 through it. Make sure it functions properly and is reliable. I have no use for a gun that is unreliable no matter how much I save on it.

possum, he shoots rifles mostly and not much of a handgunner, me I'm the opposite. I have no clue which generation it is but I guess I can find out. I'll be taking it to the range this week and trying it out.

Is WWB from Wal-Mart a decent brand just for some plinking / function shooting? I don't want to drop a lot of money on ammo I might not shoot up. Although I do plan on buying a .45 in the near future.

Tank mech. I'll find out this week if it is reliable.

Thanks guys, keep it coming.

sounds good, yeah try that thing out before you buy, great thing to do anytime you are taking a chance. shoot it to get a feel for it and see if your gonna like it.

wwb will be just fine for shooting at the range, i have always had great luck with it, out of the factory ammo i have shot more of that than any other type of ammo.

good luck and please let us know how it did!

Buy it.

If it doesn't function, of course it will it's a Glock, then send it to Glock and they'll make it like new.

This is a no-brainer, run over and buy it now.

$250 is a great price no matter what generation unless the barrel is shot out or the slide is junk. G21s are my favorite Glock.

Look at the breech face (where the firing pin comes thru) and make sure it isn't pitted from primer blowby. I have a G17 that has that problem. Shoots fine, just looks bad. I wouldn't have bought It if I had noticed it beforehand (gun was real dirty).

MidwayUsa.com & CDNNinvestments.com both have G21 13rd mags on sale for $16.99. CDNN sometimes has used LE marked G21 mags for 12.99 on occasion.

I would look at this deal very carefully.

Glock 21's are well over $400 used. Hope you know this guy good enough that you are sure it isn't stolen. Get a bill of sale with date of purchase and gun serial number on it along with the sellers name.

I have rarely seen a great bargain at pawn shops. They're in the business of selling used items and they know prices and usually ask top dollar. A 1/2 price Glock is unlikely unless it is broken, damaged or stolen. By law, pawn shops are required to list what they buy and turn that list over to the police. If an item is found stolen, esp a firearm it would be taken and returned to the original owner. That's not to say there are not unscupulous pawn shop owners that would circumvent the law and who intentionally act as fences for stolen property.

Bummer

I borrowed this pistol from my friend last night and it sure isn't a Glock. It is a compact .45, I forget which make right now.

Oh well. If it shoots well I'll probably still buy it.
