Hi, guys, and gals. I'm a long-time lurker, and just recently acquired my first handgun. The thread title tells it all. I did a bit of research into different makes and models of pistol before picking up this one. I decided to go with the Glock as opposed to a 1911-style pistol, because I don't like the redundant grip safety on 1911, and I also like being able to carry .45 ACP in 13 round magazines. I fully intend to get my CCW license ASAP, and this will be my carry gun. In the future, I may switch to a more compact pistol, and possibly a 9mm., if I find one that I like.

GrammatonCleric, my first auto was also a G21. I have bought and sold them over the years for something else that I thought I'd like better, to include a 1911, but finally came back to the G21. It is the most accurate handgun I have ever fired, 13 rounds and just plain trouble-free and reliable. I also felt the need for a more CCW piece and settled on two G19's. They are also great pistols and I don't have to learn a different operating system. I only own Glocks at this time and really don't see a need for anything else.

There's a Glock 21 in the drawer at my right as I type this. Good gun. But BIG. I mean REALLY BIG. Yes, you can conceal it, but you'll have to dress for the gun to keep it concealed. Might want to consider the 30 if you want a Glock for concealement and are set on the .45.

My Glock 21 was also my first auto pistol. I thought about it for carry, but like CAS700850 said, it is huge. My second auto pistol was a 19. I like it and much more practical for carry than a 21.

Well after:

20 some odd years, I have finally retired from the 1911A1 circle and went and bought (Under the forces of mass hypnoisis from my wife and friend). a G21. Can you belive that my wife ahd to talk me into it. Since 1980 I have had a 1911 of one flavor or another and it was not an easy choice. Ya know those woman are sneaky. Talking me into a Glock. So what if she loves her G19, I am(was) a 1911 guy. Well Gaston works in wierd ways. (Subverting my wife is one of them) and my G21 will be here Saturday.

Oh well At least it is still a .45ACP

Chuck
