Glock 21sf Experiences?

QUOTE=BluedRevolver;8018397]What kind of experiences have owners of the Glock 21 and 21sf had? Should I be worried about these \"kabooms\" I hear about every once in a while? If I buy a 21 will I have a \"ticking time bomb\" that increases the likely hood of a kaboom down the line?.[/QUOTE]

Good question, I own a current production 21SF, and it\'s a great pistol, IMO one of the very best .45s to be had. However, I also owned one of the very first to be released, and it blew up in my hands and I was very definitely injured. I posted the whole thing on GT, it went viral, I found whole threads on it in forums I had never posted too, almost all of them attacking my credibility simply because it was a Glock. It was amazing how I was savaged by mega-thousands who had never even participated in the orriginal thread on GT.

At any rate Glock was very good about it, even though we established that they were not at fault, it was clearly determined that it was was overcharged factory PMC 230 gr ball that blew the pistol up, at least thats the way things seemed. During this same time, other G21/21SF failures materialized, except these were within the LE community. People were also injured, and memos were sent to other LEA regarding the kabooms, unkind memos! They too, had originally determined the failures to be ammo related, Federal being the culprit. Contracts between Glock and several large west coast LEA were canceled.

It took a lot of sand for me to pick up another G21SF following my kaboom, no matter who was at fault, a gun blowing up and showering your face with debris, and ripping your hands open(both)will tend to shy you towards things for a while. I know this, people in the know, professional gunslingers if you will, are big on swapping out the G21SFs plastic RSA for a steel one for a reason. There has been an enormous amount of speculation on these unfortunate happenings, why take a chance?

I had an SF for a few months.

Bottom line, it was dead reliable and soft shooting. Unfortunately being used to my CZ and Sig, the grip angle threw me off big time and the mushy trigger didn't help things.

I sold it and got my dream gun, CZ 97b.

Oddly enough I shot nothing but lead reloads through mine with zero buildup, sometimes 200 at a time.
