Hey all,
I would like to ask everybody out there espscially LEO's how their Glock 23's hold up compared to Glock 19's. I have read and heard stories about amazing round counts through Glock 9mm's, but when reading Duane Thomas' book he didn't seem to have a favorable opinion about them. So what is the expected service life of a Glock 23?
Thanks.

I remember reading how Thomas bashed the 23 and especially the 27 as being not durable but I have not shot those models enogh or seen them in use under arduous conditions enough to give a 1st hand opinion.

IIRC very early Glock 22's did not have the 2 pin design in frame they now do making them somewhat more breakagfe prone.

I don't know of any "shoot-to-destruction" tests of .40-caliber Glocks. I can't believe it would be a major concern for most people. Suppose it "only" lasted for 20,000 rounds before a frame breakage - that is still 400 boxes of ammo. This is provided it doesn't "KB" first. :p

In my own case of a .40-caliber Glock (a model 27) I grew weary of its nasty bite and bark and sold it long before anything broke. ;)

A lot of folks, especially the typical LEO, wont put 20k through a pistol. As long as it doesnt kB!, I dont see how it would be an issue. Like most firearms, it will probably last longer than the person holding it.

But, lets say you do shoot it a lot, and it breaks somewhere around 20k. Just send it to Glock. They'll pop a new frame out of the mold, give the parts a once over, and ship it back.
