Hi,

I purchased a new Glock 26 earlier this week and finally I had the opportunity to shoot it. I was using Winchester White Box from Wal-Mart at the time. Before I shot it, I did run hoppes #9 through the bore.

Here is my scenario:
1) Put 75 rounds downrange quite well
2) Decided to do rapid fire. 6 shots into the magazine, the slide locked back prematurely with 4 more rounds in the magazine. This was concerning, but easily fixed but manually operating the slide lock with my thumb. The 4 other shots went through without an error.
3) Decided to do rapid fire again. About 3 shots into the magazine, again, the slide locked back with 7 rounds remaining in the magazine. More concerning.
4) Not really knowing what else to do, I took the slide off to see if I could determine if anything was 'wrong'. It looked OK to me, but I did notice a part was 'bent'. I am not certain if this should be bent, so I included a picture. it is the bright metal part in the central part of the picture (sorry, not sure of the technical name of the part)

So, my real question is
a) In looking at the picture, is this bend supposed to be there?
b) Do you have any rationale as to why the slide locked back prematurely? Anything I can check and/or tweak.

Thank you,
Synapse

that is the ejector and it should be bent.

your problem might be that you are accidentally causing the slide stop up to lock the slide back.

That shiny bent part is the ejector. It is the part that kicks the round (brass) out of the pistol after it has fired. It is suppose to have a slight bend.

I am not a gunsmith nor a professional, but I will make a comment on the malfunction that your having. In some instances that I have seen, the shooter's grip is actually hitting the slide stop of the pistol, causing it to engage the slide during recoil. Next time you shoot, observe your grip and where your hands/fingers rest. See if your hitting the slide stop accidently.

If that is not the issue, then you may want to start looking at the slide stop, magazine follower, and ammo.
I will let the more knowledgeable take it from here.

Good Luck.

As posted before, try shooting with left hand rapid-fire. Shooting with left hand will address slide lock/don't lock issue. If you can't duplicate the slide lock issue, you are touching the slide release with your fingers. :D

as stated, you are likely engaging the slide stop yourself as it is only happening in rapid fire... my guess is that as you are shooting (rapid fire) the recoil is causing you to reposition your hand on the grip and inadvertently applying upward pressure on the slide stop...
