Glock 26 or Kahr pm9 for daily carry?

I own both and carry the Glock 26 because I shoot it better and it holds more ammo. The pm9 purchase was mainly in the interest of comfort. Once I realized what a sissy I was being I started carrying the g26 instead. The only reason I haven't sold the pm9 is because my wife likes it.

I CCW'd a Glock 19 (using a Milt Sparks Executives Companion IWB holster) for years when I lived in the Seattle area. I moved to Florida in 2007 and found it difficult to keep the G19 concealed when wearing warm weather clothing, especially on breezy days. In addition the lighter fabrics don't hang and drape the way heavier fabrics do and many times my concealment shirt would ride up and get caught between the grip and my body creating an unusual bulge.

I tried pocket carry with several different small frame pistols but I didn't like the weight and bulk of the gun rubbing against my thigh when I'm sweaty, the pistol shifting in my pocket (despite pocket holsters), and, most importantly, the difficulty in quickly drawing the gun(s) from my pocket (virtually impossible when sitting in a vehicle), especially when my hands are sweaty from the heat.

After living in Florida for a few months and trying different guns/carry methods I purchased a Kahr PM-9 and a Milt Sparks Summer Special II leather IWB holster. I modified the holster (cut off excess leather around the periphery) to facilitate appendix carry. I've been carrying this way for about three years and so far it's been good to go.

I also considered a Glock 26, but found it just as problematic as my Glock 19 to CCW.

Good luck with your choice.

It seems size and shape will have a lot to do with this.
I'm not a huge guy in height or width, so I really can't carry anything IWB under a light t-shirt much bigger than a PM9 (or PF-9), without a noticeable lump under my shirt. Sure, I could wear a jacket or heavier shirt, but it frequently gets over 110 degrees here in the summer, and that's just not at all practical. If I was 6'4" and stocky, I'm sure I could get away with a much bigger gun. I do carry a much larger gun in cooler weather with thicker cover garments, no problem. So, this is a personal choice that everyone has to make for themselves.

I also find the PM9 very comfortable to handle, and I shoot it very well, but again, those with larger hands might find it small and awkward.

Im fairly sure I will go w/ the G26 but I still have the issue of what holster to purchase. Like I have said I do not really like the IWB although I may have to try one of the crossbreed IWB holsters since I have heard people praising them left and right. One question w/ the crossbreed holsters is can you sit comfortably w/ that style of holster? I will also get an OWB holster and was looking at the Desantis line of OWB holsters...any other suggestions for holsters?

IMHO, what holster is not probably what you should be focused on... Look at this way: which one would you rather go to war with?

That said, with a G26 the holster options are myriad, I like Kydex with Glocks as it leaves less to chance and prefer Blade-Tech's stuff, the offer a $20 phantom holster that's actually very good as well as their "nano" which works great. OWB, the $10 Glock sport/combat holsters are extremely hard to beat at any price.

I went with a FIST #1AK holster, looked like garbage but it was the perfect holster for that gun. Never had a holster that was a better match to the gun I had it for, either in style, functionality, purpose, or fit.

Use one of those and your Glock will magically carry like a Kahr in a leather holster.

Shawn I completely agree with you. In the Northern states (Maryland exactly) I could tuck away a full size FNP9 and under a sweatshirt or light jacket you would never know it was there. In the summer months it was still easier because it wasn't as humid and tended to get cooler in the evenings. Here in Florida, even though the heat doesn't bother me the FNP tended to show its butt even through a baggy t-shirt. I just picked up a CW9 and because its so slim it doesn't print one bit. I want to get a comparison review up of the two just to show the differences.

Choose wisely because it will largely determine how comfortable the gun is to carry. I carry mine in a Blade Tech Triton. The Glock sport holster is a really good owb holster, and only about $15. Don Hume makes some good, affordable holsters as well.

Yeah getting the right holster will turn the Glock from a dream carry gun to a lump.

Get something thin and good, and if going OWB, I'm going to echo the Sport/Combat holster from Glock, they are awesome.

My favorite holster for my 26/19:

But by far the IWB crossbreed style holsters are easier to conceal. The holster above requires a cover garment on me. I end up wearing a button down shirt over an undershirt pretty often. I get by fine with that, even in the hot, humid south. The holster looks big and menacing, but it really conceals well if I adjust it to ride high. Comfort and ease of draw is about as good as it gets for concealed.

Glock? Nah, I could never get comfortable carrying that little brick...or any other double stack, for that matter.

The PM9 is a legitimate pocket pistol, and is also capable of serving as a primary carry gun. In a lifetime of owning handguns, it is now the only 9mm I own.
