I currently have the Walther P99c QA and think it's a pretty solid gun. I'm debating on whether I should purchase the Glock 26 and maybe put the Walther up on consignment. I really only want one CCW but want the most reliable, all around gun for that purpose.

Also, my Walther has the Eagle over N on the slide, right behind the slide serrations, the eagle over N on the barrel hood and also on the undesride of the frame. On the frame it says Made in Germany but on the slide, near the front, it's stamped with Smith And Wesson.

Is this model made entirely in Germany?

Yes your gun is 100% German made. All 9mm P99s and all P99c's are 100% German made. Only a limited number of .40S&W fullsize P99s had frames made by S&W. Seeing as how the frame has nothing to do with the gun's accuracy and little to do with reliability, I don't see the big deal even if it was made by S&W.

That said, when talking about the floating pinky guns the G26 should show noticably less muzzle flip when firing. I love my fullsize P99...I still think it's the best pistol made today for fighting...but that's the fullsize. My wife's G19 has noticably less muzzle flip due to the more extreme grip angle and lower bore axis. I can only assume that this difference would be even more pronounced in the subcompacts.

Rent a G26, and make your decision based off of that. I'm sure you could sell the P99c in a heartbeat (though I would personally recomend keeping it).

The two aspects I like about the P99c AS for ccw over the G26 is that the P99 has a heavier initial pull making it a bit safer. Secondly, the P99 has one of the shortest trigger resets next to a 1911. I like it way more than the Glock26. YMMV however, try the G26.

P99 and P990 beat Glock and its safer. I think the Walther name is still among the best quality and for the price they can at least rival the HKs.

I prefer the P99c, but mine is an AS. I too like the longer, heavier first shot DA trigger pull, but the trigger pull on the SA follow up shots is really sweet.
I've never tried the QA, so can't speak to that.

i have a p99c and i think its one of the best all around guns. trading it in for a glock 26? i'd say keep the p99c but its probably going to bug you no matter what people say so go to a place that you can rent guns and try it out. only thing you can do.

what do you expect to get out ofthe glock 26 that you arent satisfied with in the p99c?
--b/c theres not a single thing i could honestly find that id change about the p99c.

Whatever you do please do not trade it in for the 26 beforeee trying out the 26 at a rental shop. try before you buy n give up the walther!?!

Yes, the A/S is much better than the QA. 1 year ago, I ditched my Glock 26 that I carried for 8 years and went with the P99c A/S. Hard chromed it right after too. :) - Best compact gun there is :)

What's wrong w/ the Walther? If she's working well for, I'd stick w/ it...it's a nice shooter and it's already yours ;)

FWIW:

I bought two new Glock 26's when they were first released to the public and were the "darlings" of the Gun magazines...

The Glocks were not as accurate as my Sig P239.. The Glock 26 in MY hand felt like a brick.

With the exception of leo's or those in related fields who take the time to become proficient with the unique always light trigger pull of the glocks I consider the Glock to be an ad/nd looking to happen. I am not anti-Glock, there are just too many firearms out there that IMO are better choices for "regular folks" for cc and self defense duty..

The Sig P239, OR the Walther P99c are two of them. I have the Walther P99c/AS version, and I'm extremely pleased with it. I have no experience with the QA version.

For me personally the Walther P99c/AS is a much better overall package than the Glock and has much better ergonomics, trigger (striker), quick reset, drop safe, 2nd strike capable, chamber loaded indicator, cocked indicator, better (for me) mag release type and I like the decocker a great deal. Some of the specific things I prefer in the P99 are NOT preferred by others, but they work for me.

Best thing to do is go shoot a Glock 26 and see for yourself. I honestly think you'll find a much better grip, better accuracy, and you already have the better of the two in the Walther...

Now, getcha' an AS version... :D

Best Wishes,

JP

The G26 is an excellent firearm. I've never fired a Walther so I don't have a comment on that. But I agree, whatever fits you best, go with it. :)
