I see the advice of THR experts. I have always heard that the G27 was snappy. The hot little .40 was just too much for that small a firearm. Well I have owned a 27 and a 30 for over a year now and never could figure out what the fuss was about. Until last Tuesday

On my most recent range outing I put 50 rounds through the G30 then 50 rounds each through two Sig P220's. Then it was time to fire the G27. HOLY CRAP!

I finally got it. The little bugger is snappy. After shooting three pretty soft shooters I really could feel a significant difference in recoil. So I'm considering selling the 27 and picking up a 36. What do you guys think? Is the 36 too small for a .45? And before someone brings it up. No I don't think not shooting the .40 after the .45's will work. :D

Yes, the G27 is snappy. So what? I'd say keep it for it's compact size and ammo capacity You can always get other guns as well.

Never cared for the 36.

IF you can hit quickly on demand with the 27, keep it.

If not, consider the 23 or 19

If it was not a problem for you before, then why is it one now? The g27 was never intended to be a fun gun range gun. Its made to to give you a lot firepower in a small package when you need it most. I am no expert. I shoot my g27 good enough to qualify with. When i shoot for fun I shoot other stuff.

Thanks guys for your input thus far.
Sheepdog, yes it is snappy but so what. Well it is concealable. I forget it's there.
But I can also conceal the g30 or any one of my P220's, except the full size. Capacity is a consideration.

Dave, I can hit quickly and accurately. But quick follow up shots are tough.

Kode, I know it seems a bit odd. I have 700 rounds through it an while I noticed the recoil I didn't think is was much until the coincidental side by side shooting.

I should also mention I am more consistantly accurate with my .45's. Which may simply be due to it's size. And the 27 is the only non ,45 I own.

recently carried the 36 and 30, I like the width of the 36 but not the magazine count. If not one its another. I also prefer my 30 because my duty mags just slide ride in! I'd reccomend the 36 over the 27 though. just personal preference. but i will tell you to shoot the 36 some claim in penches their pinky finger!

.

Well, follow up shots are a big part of being able to control it.

Can you satisfy the incredibly easy "5 shots from 5 yds on a 5" plate in 5 seconds" requirement?

I think a better skill test is 5 shots, 5 yds on a sheet of typing paper in 3 seconds or less.

If you can do both, your skill level would rank as "good."

(there are levels above "good," but it's a satisfactory threshold.)

A G30 has nearly the sight radius of a G19. I, too, find it hard to place my G27 shots as accurately as my 4" barrel semiautos. Even with a 9mm conversion barrel.

Snappy, yeah. Every single person I've let shoot the thing turns to read me after the first shot, to see if I'm pranking them with special ammo, or something. :)

I carried the G30 then G27. My coworker got a G36 and although I find the recoil less snappy than G27, I find the ammo capacity limiting (and unlike G30, I can't carry a spare G21 mag). I like the 10 round capacity of the G27 with +1 Pearce mag extension for 3 finger grip and G22 spare mags.

I don't practice with full-power 40 loads in G27 often, but shoot a lot of 9mm P/+P range reloads using Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel for practice.

For me, it's the best of both worlds.

Thanks again guys.

Dave I can hit an eight inch target with 5 in 5 seconds. But with the 27 I'm using a lot of the target. Not nearly as accurate as I am with the .45s.

Still the guys have made some good points. The 27 does have good capacity. It's very concealable. And perhaps I'm expecting too much from one gun.

Hit a sheet of typing paper at 5 yds in 3 seconds, starting at low ready. Use a shot timer, not a stopwatch.

Once accomplished, try for 2.5 seconds.

Then, one hand only, 5 seconds max to start.

Do this with your other guns and see what reveals itself to you.

I have a 30 and a 27. I like shooting the 30 more than the 27, but I EDC the 27 because the 30 is a little heavier and chunkier. I am actually a better shot with my 30 than my full size 21.

I have both a G27 and a G30. I carry the G27 allot more mainly because of the weight difference. Plus I have a Lazermax and NS on the G27. I went to AK a couple years ago. I took the G30 with me. I ended up buying a pair of suspenders so I could keep my pants up. With the mag fully loaded it gets heavy for carrying for any long period of time.

It's always odd to me why folks discount the opinion of others one day, but then have a personal experience that changes their tune. The .40sw is more snappy and always has been. It's all a "relative comparison" thing. Try full power .357mag loads in a light/small snubby. Ouch.

I tried to like the .40sw for years in many brands. Too snappy for me given limited benefits. And, it's not a "man" thing (i.e. recoil management ~ strong) IMO as many try to make it out to be. In the end I found 9mm and .45acp is all I need. I run the Glock 26 and 30 for CCW.

This gun can be a mite "snappy"; my G27 is a poosycat.

Coalman. I try not to discount the opinions of others. I have a great deal of respect for those with first hand experience and a willingness to share their opinions.

ku. Very nice. And yes all things are relative.

Trade for a 26. Same design, cheaper ammo, probably better inherent accuracy and about as effective as the .40 with the right ammo and placement.

Even hardcore fans seem a little wary of the reliability of the Glock 36.
