My wife and I just bought our carry guns six months ago. She bought the Ultra CDP II and I bought the 27. I like both, but I'd stick with the 27. Even with the carry melt treatment on the ultra there are still a lot more things to get caught on and snagged than a 27 and the Ultra is just a hair bit wider.
My wife prefers the Ultra because of recoil issues with the 27. The Ultra just fits her better than the 27 so she doesn't get that sharp snap she gets from the 27.
We did have to send the Ultra back for a new extractor. Out of the box we were getting 1-2FTE per mag. We switched ammo, mags and shooters but the problem continued. 10 days later Kimber returned the gun with two additional mags and after 100 rounds no FTE. The thing that really bugged my wife was how dirty the gun was when they returned it, they either shot 1,000 rounds through it or they use diesel fuel for a propellant.
