357Sig is just a glorified 9mm. Get a G17 instead and a heavy recoil spring if you want to fire +P+ 9mm for basically the same performance, but cheaper and more common ammo. Not to mention, more capacity.

I believe the 23 and 32 are exactly the same gun, other than the barrel and mags (and might have slightly different height sights as well; not sure about that). If you plan to get both barrels anyway, it doesn't really matter which barrel it comes with from the factory; I'd just be looking for whichever I could get a better deal on. The factory Glock barrels are around $120 brand new.

Thanks, NY32182 --- I believe you were born in NY on March 21, 1982. Our youngest son was born the next day, on the 22nd. Anyway, I will keep an eye for prices now and see the best deal I can get for my budget.

Thank you everyone for all the respond I received so far... I think this thread had run its course now...time to give it a rest. Thanks to all your inputs, I am able to make up my mind now about my next move though nothing and no one will ever change my mind about the Glock. I am not scared of recoil. I just want the best for my money for now...

Have you chekced this info recently?, I had heard OMB was done with Glocks and had switched over to mainly S/W and Sig. My sources could be wrong though?

I know Absolute Arms in Cape Girardeau is an LE GLock dealer, but not sure if they do the GSSF thing or not.

I only want to buy A GLOCK for now...I am just a newbie in guns and need to know more before I go around like a chook with my head cut off..(sorry, Aussie phrase...) I am thinking of buying new (if I can...) and it will be nice to be able to participate in real live-shooting matches but I want one that located right here in St. Louis ...

Thanks for your input though...I will think about OMB Guns...see what I can find. And no, I haven't heard about the OMB news about Glocks. This is only the second gun I am going to purchase and I want a Glock because I have heard how good they are. I have also heard of others like Kimber, but knowing nothing much about guns apart from what is in my mind right now, I do not think I want to muddle my brain too much with so many info. I just want to buy a Glock. period. and this is the end of this for now...until my next gun purchase...and I am sure I will have many more purchases later when it comes to the crunch and I decided to match my son's and my husband's rifle collection.

I actually have not heard about OMB. I just received my certificate from GSSF a few weeks ago and OMB is still listed as a participating dealer. If OMB has stopped I'm sure the have several other dealers to pick up the slack for those with no local dealers. I'm lucky and have one several miles away.

BTW Cooper if you join to get the discount you never have to show up or participate in a match. Depending on your local prices the $35 could save you $150.

Wow!! I will think about it for a while. I've found some 32s and others at glockworld.com this morning, brand new for a reasonable price. I contacted them via the phone but I was put on hold for quite a while so I just wrote them an email asking if their glocks and/or which ones of their glocks is the 3rd generation ones as I also intend to buy an extra barrel and the Lone Wolf conversion kit for the 9 x 19 mm and if none of them are, it is pointless to do an upgrade/downgrade. Somehow having three caliber in one gun is enticing to say the least...

Thanks Charlesb of LA...

I'd be leary of the aftermarket 9mm conversion barrels reliability in the 357/.40 caliber Glocks ... A factory barrel swap is all that is needed to go from .40 to 357 or vice versa and maintain the same reliability, but with the 9mm cartridge head being smaller than the 357/.40 and the ejector angled differently, I'd worry about functioning problems ...

I just wouldn't want to "buy" more trouble than it's worth instead of just purchasing a model 19 for 9mm shooting ... and, it'd be good to have an extra pistol that is the same (or nearly so) to replace your primary pistol in case of a problem ... just something to consider....

Oh, and welcome to the high road...

Luck to ya,
Ken

Hmmm....thanks for the welcome...it seems like only yesterday I joined this club after I bought my first gun and found many, many knowledgeable people who are willing to help a newbie like me. I shoot everyday since September 23...well..almost...I wouldn't know what to do if I do not practice shoot even just for an hour each day. Different gun though, a single shot 22 revolver and a BB gun. So that takes care of that caliber. No matter how busy my day is, I make sure I have that hour to practice-shoot so I know where/how/why I am making a mistake...

In theory, I know now about the barrels of the 23 and 32 being interchangeable. But WILL I BE ABLE to switch barrels even though the gun I am going to buy is not the 3rd generation one? This is what I am dying to know so I am doing more research when I get to have a little sit down during the day. Oh...how I know so little...

Thank you for your advice... I was really thinking of buying a 19 separately just in case I forget to switch barrels and have the wrong mag in the slot :banghead: ...IT CAN HAPPEN....

I've never bought any extra Glock barrels but I don't know of any changes made to the barrels between the second and third generation pistols that would cause them not to work. The slides and extractors were modified along the way but as far as I know the barrels will work. There are no alternate part numbers for different barrels in my armorer's manual. BUT, I'd still recommend giving Glock a call with your serial number and ask just to be absolutely sure...

Ken
