I bought a like new Lone wolf barrel that had a few extras. A stainless guide rod (3rd gen) and a 11lb, 13lb, and 15lb recoil spring.

Any advantage or problems in using the 3rd gun guide rod in a 4th gen Glock 34? I realize I would need to buy the adapter piece (about $10).

Also what about the recoil springs? This is a stupid question, but what is the difference in the springs? I assume they are used for different ammo.

Anyway, would you change any of the extras out or just go with the factory plastic guide rod?

I tried a stainless guide rod in my G34, found it changed point of impact and dynamics of the pistol.
Went back to the factory OEM set up and keep a few spares on hand.
I replace the assembly every 3000 rounds whether it needs it or not.

I'd stick with the factory stuff. I considered this too when I was thinking about getting a gen4. I decided that I didn't want to mess with adapters and would just keep an extra recoil spring on hand. I ended up not getting a gen4 anyway.

Like onmilo said, change it out every 3000 rounds for 9mm.
