I am thinking on purchasing a Glock 34 I'm stuck between it and a Ruger GP 100.Whick is the most reliable and dependable. Also how good is the 9 MM

Two complete different firearms. You need to figure which type of weapon you want as they are not easy to compare..

Waaaay too many variables here. Is the 9mm good for what? Defense? Target shooting? Action games? Affordability?

Like the previous poster said, these two platforms are so different you can't compare. So...get both.

Maybe he eventually wants both but can afford only one right now. I know I'm like that.

Get the G34, they are not always easy to find. GP100's can be purchased anywhere, any time.

I was being facetious but again, these two are so different it's hard to compare.

Far as reliability goes, I do not own a GP 100 so I can't attest to it's reliability. My G34 since being purchased in July or '05 has gone approx 48K rounds with exactly 1 malfunction that was not ammo related. Two years ago a round of USGI ball 9mm stove pipped. Beyond that I've had a double feed once with wolf, and I've had one round of Remington fail to fire after good firing pin strikes 3 times. So getting a bang every time for approximately 47,997 times out of approximately 48,000 is pretty decent.

yes I would like both but now can get only 1 now.i'm looking for something just to shoot have fun with.maybe carry hiking.maybe sometime shoot IDSA with.and always have in house just in case

i have both of those firearms.

they are a completely different platform.

i would go with the 34 first because they are not very easy to find at times.

the gp can be found just about any time you are ready to buy one.

if you are asking about reliability for these two weapons, you will be very satisfied with both of them. i have never had a problem with either one. i prefer the semi autos and have not been a very big fan of revolvers but they both have been very good weapons.

Own both and love them both. The GP100 is a great workhorse for the woods and for hunting. The G34 is a great target/competition/defensive weapon. Both guns are about as reliable as they come in their respective categories. Just decide what is more important to you, and go for it. Either gun will make you happy.

I own both, the Ruger GP100 has been back to the factory to have the hammer trigger lockup repaired. The Glock G34 has been great, like the trigger some, not as nice as the 1911s I have. G34 great starter pistol for IDPA and IPSC/USPSA. I shoot the G34 everytime I go to the range, GP100 once or twice in the last year, .357 magnum ammunition too high, but GP100 should be way cheaper than the G34. I much prefer Pistols to Revolvers, so my choice is clear, the only firearms I have had to be serviced were both revolvers, necessary repairs not custom upgrades. If you get the G34, the sights suck so I would change them asap.
