After about 300 rounds through new G36 using 230 gr ball ammo of good quality I am still experiencing a number of FTE. I am an experienced shooter and understand the dynamics of "limp wristing" . Unless I use a truly King Kong grip on the pistol, I will still get FTE. It is unimportant at the range but in a life or death situtation it could prove to be the end of me! So, my question is this...........do you think replacing the 36 with a 21sf would solve the problem? I know what they say about opinions. I was hoping someone with real world experience in combat shooting, leo, etc. would respond. Thanks much for your input!

I've not fired my 36 in "combat" and am not a LEO but I've put thousands of rounds through it. I can count how many issues I've had on one hand. I see my 36 as the most reliable gun in the safe. Sounds like maybe yours has some issues. Perhaps send it to Glock to have them take a look and fix or send you a new one.

Had a G36 and fell in love with it.
But every now & then it would jump the extractor leaving the case in the barrel & would feed a round into the case jamming the gun.
The cases wern't sticking in the barrel, they would just fall out when tipped up.
This happened regardless of ammo type.
I replaced extractors, sent back to glock and finally lost confidence in it & sold it.
The G21 I owned was flawless and was pretty accurate for a plastic gun.
Never had a malfunction of any kind.
My son liked it better than me and ended up with it (I have small hands).
Also a friend shot his baby glock 45 double stack (not sure of model #) in IDPA and I never saw it malfunction during many matches.
Don't know why but the G36 does have this problem.
Another friend had the same problem with his, and another friend has had no problems with his.
Two out of three in my limited experience is enought for me to draw a conclusion.
I don't trust the G36.

Like BlackSky, I consider my G36 to be flawless 'function-wise.' I'm always disappointed to hear people relate negative stories about theirs. I feel it gives the model an unfair stigma and causes many to miss out on the wonderful ccw piece that it is. But after all I've read, I suppose there are probably some out there with an issue.

I do know it takes, a good strong grip for ME to shoot it accurately and I never have any issue with it cycling properly, but I won't assume that's anyone particular's problem. Especially those with plenty of experience with firearms, handguns specifically.

I did add the A-grip for a better 'Grip' without added 'dimension' to the circumference of the grip. Love it and feel like it aids in the controllability of the pistol.

I hope those with an issue with their 36 can find a solution. It is the lightest, slimmest, most concealable, most accurate, most reliable, most powerful, most maintenance-free, most overall comfortable CCW Pistol I have ever come across.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better carry-gun....all things considered.

I'll never get rid of mine.

Just shot one today and had the same problem. In a shorter semi there is less room for error in cycling and ejecting. Basically, as in other things in life you cannot gain something (in this case concealability) without losing something (reliability). Thats one reason i prefer a full size 45 (preferably a 1911 but that is another beat to death thread altogether).
