Problem with Glock model 36

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got a used G36 off Gunbroker...older pistol in like new condition. Here is the problem: In a relatively few rounds (new Winchester PDX 230 grain ammo) I had one failure to eject and one near failure where the shell case lip was forced into the trailing edge of the feed ramp and cut to the point that the case is now unsuable. However, the round did eject from the pistol and the piece continued to run. I also ran a magazine of 230 grain ball through rapid fire and experienced no problems of any kind. Has anyone else experienced problems of this nature? If so what was the solution? Does anyone know if Glock has a position on the issue. I thought about a replacement extractor but once again, the pistol has had less than abox of ammo run through it. Help me out here guys.

i just brought a new g36 about 2 weeks ago. went to the range to try it out.
hardball worked perfect. hollowpoints on the other hand wouldnt feed and would
jam. its not to small of a pistol. i just sold a ppk/s for failure to feed after sending
it back to smith and wesson twice. good luck, hope you find the problem.
make sure everything is cleaned.

I wouldn't think there would be a difference between FMJ and JHP in regard to FTE issues. Bullet profile shouldn't have anything to do with that. Have you tried any other JHP ammo in it? What brand was the FMJ?

glock 36

their remington jhp. i dont have any other hp to try just fmj.
i also have a glock 23 that i had for about 4 yrs that will shoot
with all types of ammo.

I would try some other JHP ammo just to see if maybe it is an ammo issue. Weak charge or something, who knows.

You say that it's an older model. You may want to look at GlockTalk where they talk about the older mags having feed issues. Newer mags have either a 6 or an 8 stamped in the top of the follower and are supposed to do much better.

My 36 has been 100% since I got 3yrs ago. It sounds like it could be an extractor issue. I'd take a look at it see if it is chipped or worn down a bit. Test it the usual way by seeing if it will hold a round or if it is too tight.

I've had my G36 for 10 years or so and no major problems. It doesn't like certain brands of hollow points, but FMJ always works fine. It sounds to me that you may have had an isolated incident and I would put a few hundred more rounds through it to see if there really is a problem or not. I would also detail strip it and make sure everything is clean and in proper working order. If the problem resurfaces, Call Glock and talk to them about them. My only experience with Glock CS was great.

im going to try a different hp. i like the video and the details that goes along
with it. i have had no problems with fmj ammo. thanks to all for the good
information.
