Hey all..

Not really much of a glock guy, but have a chance to buy a glock 37 in .45 GAP, for grand sum of $275. Its been fired some, but lack of ammo,(at least around here), has kept the owner from much more than 2,3 hundred rounds.

Is this pistol the same size frame as the 22,(or 23 for that matter), as if I buy, I have zero interest in .45 gap, and would like to buy a conversion barrel in 9mm, or maybe .357 sig.. I know the mags won't work, at least I don't think they will. I honestly don't know much about the caliber, or the model......but..... the price is right.

What say you? am I on the right track, or doomed for failure?

Thanks...

As far as I know you'd have to buy a complete upper to convert it to a G17,22, or 31.

I had one and remember it being the same size as a 22.

I liked the 45 GAP and am sorry I let it go.

If the one you're looking at is in good condition, I'd buy it.

It's almost the exact same size as the Glock 17/22, it looks like the slide is just slightly taller:

So you could probably switch to a different slide, barrel, and extractor to shoot a different caliber, but at that point you've already spent more than the cost of whole gun. I doubt a 9mm conversion barrel would work in a .45 GAP considering the breech face would have to handle a cartridge that's significantly smaller than what it's designed for.

If you want an usual caliber, get a .45 GAP. Just keep in mind that the ammo is pretty rare in most places. But if you want a Glock in more common caliber, definitely don't buy a .45 GAP; it will almost certainly cost more to convert it than it would to just buy the gun you want in the first place.

Thanks guy's, for responding.

I had forgotten that the .45 barrel, was going to be of a larger outside diameter, so just a conversion barrel, is out. also didn't think of the breechface difference either. I guess it would take a whole upper assembly, as was pointed out..

I do reload and cast my own, but this is a round I have no interest in,(nothing wrong with it) just not for me.

I'm pretty sure it's a Gen.3. I don't know when the Gen 4 came out, but this guy won it in a raffle, for a $10.00 ticket some years ago.

thanks again
Caspar

That's a good price for it, but obviously the ammo is the biggest issue. Its another failed round. I would buy it myself. Maybe order a box of ball and a box of HP. I'd shoot the ball and load it with HP and just keep it for a truck gun, or something to carry on the bike, or trail gun but I wouldn't consider it as any type of regular at the range, EDC, or anything like that.Just a quick google search showed cheap(er) ball ammo between 4-54 cents a round.

I've had a 38 (the 19/23 size) and have had NO problem finding ammo. Georgia Arms sells their "Canned Heat" for both the .45 GAP and .45 ACP for about the same price. They also have a pretty good hollow-point ammo that is reasonable. Self Defense ammo is always more costly.

I've given serious thought to getting a 37, and had I found one for that price I would have jumped on it. Mine is the softest shooting .45 I've owned or shot -- an the .38 is one of the more concealable .45s, too. I found that I shoot it better than most .45s, too.

Buy it. That's a great deal and despite Internet conjecture, the GAP is a good round and the G37 runs as well as any other Glock. I is true that GAP ammo is not on the shelves at most Walmarts, but it can easily be found online or hand-loaded with the same bullets and same price as .45ACP.
