95 grain Remington FMJ.
HP-38 2.9gr 100% fail to extract (fired great in LCP)
HP-38 3.1gr 100% fail to extract (fired great in LCP)
(Lee manual which copied Hodgdon info stated 2.9start 3.2 max)
Titegroup loads.
Data 2.7 start, 3.2 max
2.7 - FTE, LCP fine
2.9 - FTE (exception of 1 stovepipe), LCP fine
3.1 - 100% eject/cycle
These were small batches (8 rounds each to start with).
Temp was 30*, but rounds were indoors overnight and in a warm car on the way to outdoor range. Were maybe outdoors 20 min before being fired, so possible that temp played a role
I will load max loads of 3.1 and 3.2 HP-38 and try again. I may also need to trickle some very accurate throws at 3.3 and 3.4 to test. I don't like the idea of setting my Auto-Drum to 3.3 in the event it were to throw a 3.5 in a few rounds.
I will also have to test the Titegroup at 3.2 and 3.3. If they are all safe, no signs of pressure, looks like it will be 3.1 with errors going to 3.0 and 3.2 being safe/useful still hopefully.
Anyone loading for G42? Interestingly some HERTERS loads were having some problems ejecting as well... Gun was recently cleaned, and last range trip was 100%. Did field strip and inspect at the 1/2 way point, and everything seemed to be in order, but not ruling out gun involvement.
