Good Evening,

I was discussing Glocks with my neighbor and the question of Blue Label Glocks came up. Would he qualify for one if he did 6 years and was honorably discharged? On the Glock site it only references retired military.

Thanks guys.

From what I have seen it's pretty much up to the local gunshop to make the decision. They get x amount of blue label guns from Glock. Glock want's as many of their guns sold as possible.

Thanks for the responses guys. Do you know of any other manufacturers that offer military discounts to those who were honorably discharged?

Not quite.
Dealers have to submit documentation to prove buyers of "Blue Labels' are qualifed under the program.

Dealers don't get "x amount of blue label guns"........the dealer must be an authorized Glock LE dealer.

While Glock wants lots of guns sold they are pretty darn strict about Glock LE dealers abiding by the program requirements, and will yank a dealers blue labels if he doesn't follow the rules.

May I ask whats a 'Blue Label Glock?' A 24 year old or there is something more to it?

A special program by Glock that allows first responders to purchase Glocks at a lower cost. Sometimes there are slight differences, like a blue label g34 I bought that didn't come with the lighter transfer bar like every other g34 on the planet.

To be precise:
Those who qualify include:
•Sworn Law Enforcement officers, including Federal, State, County, & City (Includes retired L.E. officers with "retired" credentials)
•EMT’s, Fire Fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters, and Paramedics
•Military personnel including Reservists and National Guard with I.D. (Includes retired Military with "retired" credentials)
•Corrections Officers, including Parole and Probation Officers
•State Licensed Security Companies (Loomis, RAM, etc.)
•State Licensed Armed Security Officers
•Court Judges, District Attorneys and Deputy District Attorneys
•LE Academy Cadets with enrollment documentation from the Academy

GSSF members also get to buy a blue label pistol with the discount coupon they get each year starting with their 2nd year of membership. Normally it would come with your first renewal, but if you join for two years right off the bat, they send you your card right away. Not all LE dealers are set up to accept the GSSF membership card, so check with them first.

I've bought several blue label guns with GSSF coupons at a local dealer and never a problem. Supply is the only hold back. You just get on their list and wait until they get the one you want. The last one took almost 6 months.

Honorably discharged service members have 2 years from the ETS date of post privileges, MWR, commissary, and PX/BX/and whatever the navy/marines call em. While not a permanent privilege unless retired, stating honorably discharged doesn't get privileges is not accurate.

That is close, but not right. When you enlist, the initial term is for 8 years. Your time between signing, your active duty, and the remaining time all count towards that 8 years. That is so you can be called back to duty if needed. Once done with active duty, you are in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) until that 8 year time frame is complete. While in the IRR, you can get an ID card that grants access to a base. Most soldiers/sailors/etc. don't take the time to get that card, and don't get onto bases.

To keep it gun related- I have yet to see a PX/BX/NEX that is competitive with a blue label Glock. Even with the tax savings, they are still considerably more expensive.

MY LGS used to sell them to anybody with a DD214 but Glock cracked down on them as did a number of other manufacturers they sell. Every now and again they'll sell a display model to the general public for the LE discount price.

I think it's pretty sorry that all vets don't qualify. Vets who were deployed and saw combat don't get the discount but guys who retired after a career in the rear do?

Oh good grief. Should the amount of the discount vary by the number of rounds you fired in combat as well? Should participation in HS ROTC get you a free box of ammo?

I think it's WONDERFUL that Glock has the First Responder Program. They are the most inclusive of any firearm manufacturer as to who can qualify for their discount.

I give discounts to TX CHL holders, police, fire, ACTIVE military and teachers..........yet I get guys bitching that I don't discount for Utah or Arizona CHL's, mailmen, software engineers, accountants......all fine professions. I have had more than one vet try to pass himself off as "active" to get a whole $10 discount. Shameful.

Um, no. Just as I said, if the discounts applies to retired vets its should apply to all vets. That is simple and far different from your extreme and impractical hypotheticals. And by the way, before it is assumed that my position is based on personal interest, its not as i'm not a veteran.

According to Glock's own website, the blue program exists "...to support those who protect and serve communities across the U.S. and around the world." I fail to see how this standard would apply to retired vets but not all others who were discharged honorably. If you do, please explain.

What are the reasons for the discount to each of the groups you listed?

"Should"? Says who?:scrutiny: It ain't your company and until it is Glock gets to determine whats fair and acceptable for their discount program.
Would you be happier if the discontinued the program completely? That WOULD be fair after all.

TX CHL holders are guaranteed fast transfers, no NICS call and they tend to buy more firearms than non CHL holders.
Police, Fire & Active military- I admire the job they do and think they are underpaid for putting their lives at risk for my safety and well being.
Teachers- I is one.;)

ClangClang The Blue Label program belongs to Glock. It's theirs to run as they see fit.
I'm a teacher, when kindergartners attack I respond quickly with my "Nonviolent Crisis Intervention" training & expertise. Do I qualify for a Blue Label discount?

FWIW I have bought several blue label Glocks using the GSSF coupons. Glock does the public a service that none of the other manufacturers do as far as I know, by having the GSSF program. Glock now makes members wait till the second year of membership before being eligible for a coupon. Reason being ..some folks just joined for one year just to get the discount under the old policy. IMO, that behavior was short sighted. I shoot several indoor and outdoor GSSF matches each year. I have won a pistol, enough annual renewals to never have to renew my membership yet, several hundred dollars, Glock knives, range bags, shirts and plaques, and I am not a pro or Master shooter. All this was thru random drawings. My wife has been a member for a year and has already won a pistol and some cash, again all thru random drawings.
