My Glock 23 came with a red label on the case.

I didn't think twice about it or really even notice it until a friend of mine asked what color label I had. Apparently he had a green label.

What difference, if any, could this possibly have?

Thanks

Never heard of the green.
Red label- high capacity magazines.
Blue label- LE model with three hi cap magazines.
white label - ten round mags.

My "White" Label came with 3 (3rd mag was pulled from store stock to complete the LE/Military GLOCK deal) HiCap mags. So I'm guessing they don't follow the "label color=type of mag" anymore?

I recently bought my Glock thru a group buy and the case had a blue label. However, contrary to magmeister's list, I only got 2 mags with the gun (which is what was specified when I ordered). Dunno what's up with that.

The gun shop said mine was the first blue-labeled box they had seen...all of their other ones had arrived with red labels. Now I know the difference, so thanks for that, but I'm still puzzled why the blue is supposed to come with 3 mags and I only received 2. Oh well, doesn't make me like the gun any less! :)

Blue is LE with three mags, the dealer kept one mag to increase his profit margin.

Well, that's one possibility. It's equally possible that this gun was ordered as a non-LE package from a distributor who happened to have the blue label in stock. The distributor could have taken out the extra mag to fulfill the order.

If the dealer gets his Glocks direct, then he probably kept the extra mag. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, though. They get a break on LE pricing with the understanding that they these guns are to be offered at a reduced price to LEOs. While it's not illegal to sell these to the unwashed masses, if Glock gets wind of it, it could mean trouble for the dealer (nothing legal, but trouble as in not getting anymore Glocks). I used to see a dealer at gunshows that had very good prices on his Glocks, he carried nothing but Glocks and sold them to anybody who could pass the b/g check. Another dealer I knew told me once this guy was selling LEO discount guns. Two mags to a gun, big tupperware container of loose spare mags for sale at $25 each. I always spent a little more and helped out my guy, so I never really got a look at the boxes. Haven't seen the guy in a long time. I'll bet he got caught and lost his priviledges.

Cops aren't the best paid people on the planet and some of these guys are buying the guns for duty use (which nominally requires 3 mags). So I don't begrudge them getting a deal and an extra mag.

Wow you learn something every day! Now I'm going to have to check my glock boxes! I think most are red. The 19 may be white since I bought it during the Komrade Klinton ban of 94. One is from a LE friend so I'll see if it's got a blue label (then harass her for only giving me 2 mags :p)

blue labels

i know this is a dumb question, but can you order any label firearm from any dealer or is there only certain dealers you have to go to?
