glock frame problem

Anyways, I apologize if you took it the wrong way HUNT. I'm just suggesting that you TAKE A BREATH and relax.

O.K.

Are we at Zen now? Yes?

Good.

Anyways, you are one of the few percentage that have had some disappointment with your weapon...at this moment. Do you have a right to complain? Yes. Go right ahead.

Let us know the status when you get your G27 back. And don't worry about having a different serial number. My local gun range that rents gun, has a G21 and it has three different serial numbers: reciever, slide and barrel...I can't imagine how many rounds where shot out of it AND how many times it visited Glock, Inc.

Hunt I understand that the shipping cost is not the point. I asked because I really was curious. So if you want to continue to be vile about the whole ordeal go ahead. At least they are replacing it though. Did GM reimburse the gas and the time spent to get your muffler fixed. No is my guess. Glock didn't notify oh well. At least you found out that yours is crap and needs to be repaired the easy way, and glock is willing to do so. So if I ask a question out of intrest without including any smug remarks then answer the question or not. Don't go to the as you put it "defending position". Save that stuff for AR15.com or glock talk. However you are right they should pay shipping.

Zen sucks, but I will post a follow-up. Your comments would be better received if you did not make a comment like "panties in a wad" when I had a legimiate problem and made a rational complaint. Especially considering I am a Glock owner, and said I still prefer a Glock handgun over any other manufacturer. I bought the weaon new,and should have been notified a long time ago by Glock.
Enough said about all of this.

Hmmm... That's strange. I've had two pistols completely replaced before and each time the company destroyed my old gun/frame and stamped my old serial number on the new gun to specifically be able to ship it directly back to me. The BATFE considers the frame to actually be the "gun", so I don't see how you could legally get it without doing another FFL/NCIS check, etc. Seems like you'd have to fill out a new 4473 with the new serial number.

3 pairs, I didn't ask what the shipping charges are. I was expecting him to give me a UPS number. Can't be much. Sorry if I came off wrong. Count got the best of me I guess.

Bright side

If it were me, I'd be a bit miffed, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I probably wouldn't even be bothered to have it fixed, if it were just a matter of "theoretically may cause premature failure of a rail." Until there are documented cases, this is just a matter of one part being slightly different from what was intended, for the worse.. or maybe even better? And anyway, I have read accounts of glocks working just fine with a missing rail.

The bright side - at least your Glock is a 1%er and maybe has a modicum of collector value - like the rare penny minted in San Franciso, or something? Just looking at the bright side. :)

I've done this, Glock mailed me back my new G34 frame with new mis-matching serial #. I knew it would be like that and did not care. I paid shipping, gun had about 35K rounds on it so although I knew it was a "recall" I figured I'd not worry about it. I stripped the gun to preserve my custom stuff, sent a bare slide and frame in, gun was returned complete so I at least got a spare Glock parts kit out of it. I thought their CS sucked, I called 3-4 times and got stupid answers on when it was shipping out.

I think if you fussed at them enough they would foot the shipping bill. Not uncommon at all for companies to not proclaim "recalls." Nobody at Ford bothered to tell me their plastic intake manifolds were under recall until mine puked all the coolant out of the engine through the gigantic mold line crack. Good luck with the Ford garage covering my tow truck and cab bills.

I've always said, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. After reading the Glock information page I'd play the odds that my pistol would be one of 9,998 out of 10,000 (.01888%) that won't have any problems. Every one of us who drives a car has greater risk than that of being killed just driving (.02103% 2006 data).

Wait til you get it back... after all diffrent serial number = diffrent gun in the eyes of the ATF... Some states will make you "re buy the gun"

Some gun companys actually register that serial number destroyed then reissue that number so there is none of that( ruger comes to mind off the top of my head)

Seen it happen several times, gun goes in for repairs, it ethier can't be fixed or needs a new frame... "MR, Doe, your gun is back from... you need to come back to the store redo the paper work and waiting period, then you can have your gun back"

thnaks to everyone for the feedback. I guess the main thing that took me back is because I have so much respect for Glock. Considering the low failure rate,I may just keep mine as is. I've put 5oo+ rounds through it with no problems. I still trust my Glock to save my life or anothers if I do my part correctly in a fight that I hope never happens.

Pistol

I have had only one pistol replaced, a Taurus 1911 .45 caliber. I don't understand this difficulty with the FFL and re-registering etc.etc. I shipped the pistol direct to Taurus and they shipped a new pistol direct to me. The received pistol had a different serial number. I did nothing other than shoot it, then ultimately trade it off. I assume that would work with Glock. I think in the end you will find that Glock's customer service will be excellent. It's been a few years, but I sent a Glock back that functioned fine, however, it did not shoot to point of aim (fixed sights). Also didn't seem as accurate as my prior ones. I complained via telephone and they said send it in, as they wanted every customer to be a satisfied customer. I received it back in about 2 weeks with new adjustable target sights and an accuracy job. A few hundred dollars of gunsmithing and the charge was zero, nada, zip. I hope your experience will be as good.

just think of it this way hunt2hunt.....

at least their willing to replace the part. as said earlyier, its not a recall, so really, they have to do nothing about it. not all guns with this problem will be effected in a negitive way. they could have said your sol, and told you that you have to buy all new parts and have them replaced at your own expence.

its sad but true, all things made are just that, things, and nothing is perfect. the sooner you send it, the sooner it comes back. at least youll have a brand new frame for 1/18th the price!!!
