I recently acquired a Gen 4 G26 to replace a G27 and the first time I sat down to dry fire I noted the trigger to be much worse than my Gen 4 19 and 17, neither of which I felt a needed trigger upgrades. The Gen 4's have slightly heavier triggers than my Gen 3's with rounds through them but I found them acceptable for work/carry.

I don't own a trigger pull gauge and didn't need one to notice this 26 was pretty bad. To confirm I dry fired it side by side with a couple Gen 3's and a couple Gen 4's. It was even heavier than the 42, with the 26 having a gritty and inconsistent break. I even had to check to make sure I didn't have a "plus" connector and it was the standard "dot" connector found in all my Gen 4's.

I figured a couple range sessions would help. Slow fire I was able to get tight groups, although slightly left of center, which I chalked up to me being sensitive to the trigger. Although this was good enough for self defense I was still curious what was going on with this particular gun. Again, I've never found it necessary to upgrade any of my Glock's triggers but I tried hand polishing the contact points with Flitz and honestly wasn't expecting much...and no improvements were perceived by me.

I broke down and ordered a factory "minus" connector, polished it, and dropped it in. Much to my disappointment, no improvement at all. I've been strictly focusing all my dry fire sessions with the 26, hoping to smooth things out. Took it out to the range again and it's maybe smoothed out some, but the trigger was still heavy and especially when handled next to my other Glocks. It was really bothering me why the only Glock I own with a "minus" connector had a heavier and grittier trigger than all the others.

With a day off I swapped the trigger bar with the one on my Gen 4 17. I left the connectors in their respective guns. The 26 was first to be reassembled and immediately I noticed an improved trigger, in fact it's probably close to my duty Gen 3 G22 which has thousands of rounds down range. The 17 was reassembled and it now had the heavy and gritty trigger. At this point I'm scratching my head and surely the difference being a serrated and smooth trigger wasn't causing the difference.

I compared the trigger bars and was annoyed I didn't notice this when I first opened up the 26 to polish the parts. The rounded tail of the trigger bar that contacts the connector wasn't smooth. It's shiny because I went over it with a cloth and Flitz, but going over it with my bare finger you can feel decent imperfections.

So there it is, I plan on getting a few more 17 trigger bars just because I prefer the smooth triggers.
