 Glock's are "good cheap auto's"! Hey there Shooter429 up were I hang my hat Ruger's can be had new for 340.00 + tax, Thats not some Ruger's, thats all Ruger centerfire pistol's. At that pricepoint I can't for the life of me figure out why the Wisconsin state police dumped there P-89's faster than a bad case of the trots for :uhoh: Glock-22's. Ruger's are, and I stand behind this, glorified Hi-Point's.:neener: There even manufatctured under the same process. Now I've got no problems with those folks who, after owning a Jenning's, Bryco, or Ruger step up the ladder in quality and purchase a Tauras or Tangfolio, but don't go sliming those of us who have stepped up that ladder a little faster then you, yourself have....

P.S. Isn't your redhawk a revovler? But as an exibition of reliability it's probably your best bet to run against a Glock isn't it? :what:

Its good that people bash the Glock from time to time, as most Glock owners insist that the Glock was carved by the hand of God and is as infallible as Swiss Time Keeping.

When in reality, the Glock is a firearm like all other firearms, prone to different problems from different situations. It is a good firearm, no doubt, but by no means infallible. I should know. I own one.

Some people need products to define what they are. "I'm a Ford man', 'real men only shoot 1911s', 'I'm a gangster because my pants are falling down showing my Calvin Klein underpants'. 'I'm a socially superior girl because I wear Prada'

Such individuals aren't going to listen to anything that shakes their sense of self worth.

Me, I like Glocks, 1911s, Berettas, Smith & Wesson & Webleys. Friends have managed to blow up several .40 cal Glocks and cracked frames on 1911s. Touch wood it hasn't happened to me.

Stevereno,

Two points: 1. SIG frames are not made of stamped steel. They are Aluminum or Machined Stainless.

2. Specific manufacturing techniques are neat for marketing, but individually they don't amount to anything. The engineering, materials, and construction techniques of the entire system define the system's strengths and weaknesses. The Glock is a good pistol. The OP's question was do they sometimes blow up. No need to get deffensive, the answer is yes. However, other brands do also, and steps may be taken to mitigate the chances of a Glock spontaneous disassembly if the odds seem unreasonably high.

It is a neat pistol, but it isn't for everyone. That's why we have choices.
