Glock Night Sights Construction?

Just Curious,

I'm purchasing a G29 soon and want to get some Meprolight sights to go with it. From what I understand, the factory night sights have Meprolight tritium tubes installed in them. However, I DO NOT want plastic sights on my gun, like the standard sights are. Are the factory night sights plastic or not? If so, does anyone know if you can order "real" Meprolight sights from the factory instead?

I tried to ask this question over at GT, but had curious registration problems. Thanks in advance for your help.

The OEM Glock night sights are metal but they are undesirable in the fact that the front sight is pressed-in rather than screwed-in, meaning it could loosen and fly off the gun with use. I would opt for regular Meprolights, installed by a Glock armorer, using red loctite. Blue loctite doesn't cut it (not in my experience, that is). If no armorer is near you, send your slide to Glockmeister and he will install them for free (you'll still have to pay for the sights though of course)

That's an aspect I just had not considered. Okay, well my next question has to be then, if your sight does come off during normal use, would that be covered under Glock's warranty?

Ideally, I think you are dead-on in recommending that I just get Glockmeister to install me some Meps. Unfortunately, I'm in somewhat of a time crunch as I'm trying to get my G29 before an impending backpacking expedition. I don' know if I'd have time to get the gun, ship it off to Glockmeister, and get it back before I go trolling around in Grizzly country for a couple of weeks. Do you have any experience with their turn-around times? Thanks again......

I'm sure if the OEM Glock front night sight did fly off when firing, Glock would repair/replace it under warranty. Of course, this just raises the question of why you would want to stick with an inferior method of affixing the front sight that had already come loose once before, on a gun you intend to use for defense.
