glock plug in steyr????

glock plug in steyr????

seems to me that somewhere i read the glock grip plug will fit the steyr...

Can anyone confirm or deny this??

Arin they do look do be about the same size, but I always thought the Glock plug was kinds of a gimmic. Does it really do anything??

na, i doubt it really does anything....except keep dust bunnies out of there...and maybe provide some rigidity. And yes, it looks better.

i have a serious need to accessorize my steyr....but have been unsuccessful thus far.

I knew it!! You are just itching to deck that thing out aren't you. I bet if someone shipped you a shoulder stock, or forend grip you would probably pee yourself with delight. If you sacrifice a Glock to the Steyr Gods maybe they will reward you.

The plugs make it very difficult to get a firm grasp on the mag base if you get a jam and need to rip it out if it won't drop free. If you've ever had to do it to a stuck mag, you know how important a good grip is. I had a coupla plugs in some of my Glocks, but dumped them when it (stuck mag) happened to me in another pistol.

never had a mag jam up in the steyr...and dont forsee it happening...unless the grip is crushed for some reason...and in that case the plug might actually keep it from getting crushed?

Wouldn't a plug just make a smaller hole to have to hit when slapping in a new mag?

With a plug in place an M would look more like the butt of an S ... there's no problems with the S so I see no reason why it would cause any problems with an M.

Frankly the hole down there on the M just looks like you're missing a part or something.

I'll have to look into the Glock plug thing.

Is the back part of the grip on the S series hollow? If it is then it wouldn't cause a hinderance in quickly reinserting the mag. It still seems to me that if the back part of the mag is pluged then you are loosing the funnel effect and makeing it a smaller opening to try and hit quickly.

On another Glock crossover idea, does anyone know if a G19/23 guide rod work in a M-series? They're pretty much the same size.

Sprinco has told me that someone that is a customer of theirs says he used a G17 (maybe it was a 19?) Guide Rod from them in his M9.

Well, I tried the plug, and it does not fit as is. The bright side is that it appears a little trimming of the plastic on the plug will fix that easily enough. I think I'll order another one and give it a try.

A Type 3 malf (a double feed) often results in a stuck mag. They're not as common as other malfs, but they do happen. Naturally, the unforseen part is why they're called malfunctions, rather than functions. If you get a bad one, you'll know it. Although, with the grooves at the base of the Steyr grip, there might be enough mag base exposed where this wouldn't be a prob for you with a Type 3.

Several here have said that and I don't get it ... the Steyr doesn't have a beveled magwell like a racegun ... the hole in the back of the grip on the M series is just a hole beside the hole you put the magazine in ... I don't see how plugging it would make the magazine hole any smaller. If anything I could see snagging the first round on the little hole while trying to stuff the mag into the big hole during stess so a plug might help there.

In fact if you pluged the hole in the M series with a plug that stuck down like the grip of the S series then you'd have a "tab" that would guide you into the hole you insert the mag into.
