SO I traded my XD 9 subcompact for a well used gen 2 Glock 19. There is some stippling on the frame and I was wondering if I could swap out the frame for gen 3 frame and put the gen 2 slide on it. Also any information regarding the gen 2 guns would be nice.

Ps. the gun came with original glock night sights that are still glowing. Is there any way I can send the gun to glock to have them give it a once over without having to pay for it? I am a cheapskate

Yup, Gen 2 slide will work on a gen 3 frame. You are probably better off finding a local Glock armorer or gunsmith to check it over.

I had a second gen 19 and 23 for a while, the 19 had Austrian proofs. Kinda wish I still had it.

I was having some issues with it firing when I RELEASED the trigger and it was giving me some really fast double taps. Took it to a local gun shop (A&B Pawn in Van Buren, AR) and they discovered it was a ghost bar someone had installed incorrectly. Replaced all the parts and got it back to working in a few minutes for free.

You might just sell or trade it instead of swapping. There are those people (I'm one of them) that prefer the feel of the Gen 1 and 2 guns before they added those !#$%&@ finger grooves.

Grips been stippled upon. I don't think many would want it.

I also am one that really likes Gen2. My favorite Glock is my Gen2 G22 that I bought as a PD trade in.

I'm planning on buying a 43, when I do it'll be only the 2nd Glock I purchased new.. The rest were used private party or police trade. I honestly see no reason to buy a brand new Glock. :D

Ya never know, there are some who'll pay a high price for an RTF model Glock, so there might be someone out there looking for a stippled 19.

I am really growing to love my recently acquired gen2 g17

I never realized how those finger grooves annoyed me till I got a pistol without them.

Well if anyone wants to trade me frames I am down. I hate this stippling.

Good luck, cause its even a very bad job...

Calling Glock for a frame replacement might be your cheapest alternative.

I think Glock will do a "Frame upgrade" for like $100 or so last I saw.

I'm personally getting ready to sell my Gen 2 G17. Just used my GSSF yearly coupon to get a Gen 4 G17 and figured I'd sell the Gen2 to fund it.

Personally I like the lack of finger grooves on the Gen 2, but the adjustable backstraps (or rather, being able to leave them off for a slimmer grip) were the main selling point convincing me to switch to the Gen 4.

There are always Glock frames (complete) on gunbroker, trouble is it'll have to transferred through an FFL.

I have never taken a Glock apart before tonight, and let me say, that was the easiest gun I have ever taken apart. I had it down to the bare slide and frame in less than 5 minutes and back together in less than the same. I see why people claim they are perfection.

Well...far from perfect but they are definitely easy to fully disassemble. I probably would have kept my G21sf if the ergo's were better and it had a thinner slide.

Oh wait, that's the M&P.:p

Neither is a stippled Gen 2 Glock 19
What's your point?

The OP doesn't like the stippling and is trying to get rid of it (and actually a stippled grip IS legal in USPSA Production - it just has be confined to certain areas), but my point is simply that for someone who doesn't like the finger grooves on a Gen 3 or Gen 4 gun, the solution isn't always as simple as "just grind them off".

For a lot of people that is going to disqualify the gun for certain uses (eg, competition). For just about all people it's going to drop the resale value.

Does yours have Austrian proof marks on it? I cannot remember what year my old Gen 2 was made, but had the tupperware box and manual with it. Was $299.99..lol

I can't speak for you but I buy firearms to shoot not to re sell.
As for competition, I have guns set up for competition.
My G34 pictured is a pleasure shooting pistol and a defense gun if so needed.
It is not now, nor will it be, available or intended for resale,,,

So my example is what to do to correct the annoying finger grooves on a gen 3/4 pistol that an individual who does not compete and has no intention of selling his pistol can do to correct an otherwise annoying feature on the gun.

DISCLAIMER

Kids, don't utilize this corrective measure if you plan on reselling your pistol or are intending to use the gun in a limited class competition...
