That photo is of a Gen 3. That's not a particularly good price. They go for about $529 in gun stores around here, and I've seen them for $499 on sale.

Thank you all very much. Because of the price, I assumed it was a Gen 4.

Just found out for sure that its a Gen 3. The Gen 4 is $619 and sold out.

Gen 3. One way to tell from this photo is that the side of the grip on a Gen 4 is much more textured.

Even still!

I would not completely trust a picture but use all the following factors: picture, mfr product number, description and UPC.

Posted under the pic, Bud's says, "Please Note!! Many of our pictures are stock photos provided to us by the manufacturer and do not necessarily represent the actual item being purchased. Give them a call, email or do the live chat thing to find out for sure.

But, the picture is of a Gen3.

I shot both G17 3 and 4 side by side. The difference was either small or imaginary. (Bought my first Gen 2 about twenty years ago)

^^^ Besides from the fact that the Gen 4 has different texture and the mag catch is 100% larger.
The RSA really just provides longer life over the single Gen 3 springs.

My thoughts exactly. Gen 3 spring last about forever in a service pistol, inexpensive to replace, so gen 4 will be forever twice. But captive is nice plus better grip for shorter fingers that don't like ridges on the front strap.

glock ?

Ive carried a gen3 for yrs now, Ive dropped it, kicked it, and it still in service! I have cowokers who have 4th gen, some like them and some dont! It all depends what abuse you have to put them through. The finger grooves and the solid frame is what does it for me.
