A friend of mine has a Glock 17 he bought used. Sometimes the slide would not return to battery when fired. We ordered a new recoil spring from Numrich and the part looks different from what was originally in the used gun.
See the attachment. The spring/guide on the right is what was in the gun. It's steel, with an allen head adjustment of some kind on the front.
The spring/guide in the middle is the replacement part. The guide is polymer with no visible adjustment. The spring on the left is an extra that's off of the guide.
We haven't tested the new spring yet, but it seems like it will fix the problem.
The question is - which type of spring and guide does Glock install at the factory? Is the replacement an aftermarket design, or is the steel guide the one?
