If the question is "Single stack Glock?" The answer is Walther PPS!

Except the Walther is a bit pickier on ammo. At least mine was, while my G26 will eat anything I feed it.

(But yeah, PPS is a great gun)

EDIT-Dang it, did I just respond to a 3 month old thread?

Glock is selling so many guns world wide they really aren't worried about what the U. S. market wants.
The armorer probably needs to stick to fixing pistols, as he is not very good at their business.. According to ATF we imported 515k pistols in 2011 from Austria. 431k in 2010.. While Steyr is included in that number, Im pretty sure its a paltry sum... It took glock 24 years to produce 5 million pistols. (1983-2007) and we practically imported a 5th of that number in 2years. That tells me we ARE their market.

I am in doubt as to whether if Glock is even capable of engineering anything other than chopping or lengthening the slide or grip of the Glock 17 then changing calibers.

No. Glock is in the LEO and military market. If they were more concerned with competing for the CCW class, they would have done so already.
