Pocket 9mm suggestions for guns without issues

bought it along with an extended round mag

If you intend to carry it with the extended mag, I strongly suggest you run a lot of ammo through that mag - or any other extended mag you buy.

The only issues I have ever had with my PM9 were related to a 7 rd magazine, and I have heard (and read - internet) that many others have had problems with them too.

I will use mine for range time, but never to carry with. YMMV.

And congrats on the new Kahr......I think you'll be very happy with it.

Yes I will have to pick up the hogue grip just because the checkering feels very aggressive

Extended mag will be the back up. I'll carry with the 6 rounder. But I'll break in with both

I've gone through a few pocket guns in the past few years. Currently, I'm experimenting with a SIG P290RS. It's a fine little gun, feeds everything reliably and is nicely equipped with night sights. I've added a Hogue grip sleeve that helps a great deal with handling since I have rather large hands and it has a rather short and flat handle. The biggest issue with it is the long (but smooth) trigger pull and the deep let-off point. I'm still working on mastering that. It's easier to get used to the trigger if you don't shoot other guns during the same range session, I've discovered.

All small pocket autos seem to have issues to a more or less degree. You can adjust to some issues if the gun meets the requirements of a defense pistol. Those requirements being that the gun be reliable and that the user handle it well and shoot it accurately.

Wow, that is interesting, I didn't know that. You mean you can't sling shot the first round? That would bug me.

stogiegila,

I sling shot mine into battery all the time. Never a problem. IMO, some people simply don't know how to do it. Running any micro-sized pistol is not, IMO, the best choice for the new shooter. I think Kahr puts it in the manual which prevents people from sending them back to the factory because they are blaming the gun when it is simply the user.

I also never did any kind of 200 round break-in on my PM9....which others say is absolutely necessary or it will never work. Whatever....

Perhaps my PM9 never read the manual so it wasn't aware of all these things it wasn't suppose to be able to do! :D

I don't know of any standard pressure 147gr 9mm rounds that are more than 990 fps, and out of a shorter pocket pistol barrel I'm betting there aren't any std pressure cartridges out there that get a bullet going faster than 990 period.

It wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't get 147 gr bullets going that fast from the PM9. I've never shot any 147 gr loads out of my PM9. A 5 shot string of 124 gr Rem Golden Sabers out of mine clocks 1055 FPS over my chronograph. I'm OK with that.

Love my two CM9's.
200 round break in? Not on mine, both have been 100% reliable from the first mag full.
Can't sling shot it? Hmmm....do it all the time.
Tough to rack the slide? Yep, not a problem for me but the wife can't do it, so carry of it is out for her.
