Glock trigger vs. Sigma trigger

+1 skywarp.

Can't stand the Stigma er...I mean, Sigma.

Your money would be better spent on anything else; Glock, Springfield XD, HK, Ruger, etc.

The newer Sigmas are fine. There are better guns but the Sigma is not as bad as everyone tries to make it. I would not consider them a great trigger but for a $250 gun NIB with 4 hi-cap mags it is a good deal IMO.

A great starter gun.

I disagree. You have not made an arguement for your position. That leaves a huge hole in your statement.

Care to expand on the comment?

my local shop informed me of a place in tx doing free trigger work on sigmas with S&W picking up the tab. FYI

What! Can you go back and find out more?

Also, I really like my Sigma, despite it's bad trigger. It is perfectly reliable, and I just like it.

It's a story I have told many times.

Yes, first of all, the trigger really sucks. Not just that it's heavy, either, it feels like a rubber band which increases in weight and suddenly snaps. It's a workout just to fire the thing. At least a NY trigger is consistent.

My sigma wouldn't feed HP ammo. No problem, I'll have the feed ramp milled under warranty. Then the front sight fell out. (As in Ron White saying about the wheel on his van after having it serviced; "It fell off. It FELL OFF. IT FELL THE #^%$ OFF!") No problem, that's under warranty, and I wanted night sights anyway, right? Then, using Winchester Whitebox, I hat a failure to leave the barrel. The old muffled pop. Back to the gunsmith to have him pound out the bullet.

90% of the bad things I ever had happen to any gun happened with that BRAND NEW ONE in a 30 day span. I carry cards to hand out at gun shows to anyone I see looking at one. And the M&P might just be miraculously good, but you know what? Glock didn't need three different pistols to work the bugs out. S&W even copied the Glock so closely they got SUED and it's still not even close to the same quality. S&W autos are under Taurus, Keltec, and Makarov on my quality list. There are too many other good pistols in this competitive market for me to see myself picking another one up.

Enough details?

Your experience does not equal everyone. When did you buy the Sigma. Gen 1 guns were much worse then the current ones.

I know tons of people who like theirs. Shoots everything that they put in it and the triggers got better over time. No one is telling you to pick another one up. The sigma is one of those guns that people like to bad mouth. I at least give you credit that you owned one. :)

All anyone can ever post in here is their own experience. In this market, a manufacturer has no excuse as to be so sloppy as to not get it right the first time. Again, too many other great pistols for me to have any reason to give them a second chance.

So you owned a first generation pistol?

Lots of manufacturer screw up on the initial offering. Sig think GSR, Ruger think SR9, S&W 1911's (Gen1) The list goes on and on.

No one is telling you to give them a second chance.

Haven't shot Glock enough to comment. Heck, I have fairly limited experience shooting Sigma's, too, but I looked at them long and hard recently. I can tell you this about the Sigma; the new ones I dry-fired had horrible triggers, felt like crunching gravel. Then I tried a rental Sigma at an indoor range (both dry and live firing) and was suitably impressed, pretty nice and smooth trigger feel. I started talking to people and I'm pretty well convinced that the break-in point is about 300-500 rounds, then the trigger settles in very nicely. Before that, when I was thinking about getting a Sigma I was calling around looking for places to do trigger jobs, but I'm comfortable now that all it takes is to just use the gun.

FWIW, I wound up buying an M&P simply because it feels nicer in the hand and I could afford it at the time.

My 9mm Sigma has been flawless for the year and a half that I've owned it. You'll hear lots of bashing; some (rightfully) from first gen owners, some from fan-boys, and some regurgitating what they've heard / read.

Don't believe everything you read, including this. Track one down and find out for yourself. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
