I've located an incredibly inexpensive Sigma and though I'm interested, I have no experience with them. I understand they are reliable but the consensus seems to be they possess heavy (and some say gritty) triggers.

I'm curious how Sigma triggers compare to Steyr M series in terms of trigger pull. I'm guessing the Steyr has a nice trigger when compared to Sigma since it's considered quite nice to begin with by many.

Thanks in advance!

The $250 Sigma's trigger is 10lbs out of the box.

A call to S&W will get an email with prepaid postage to have them smooth up the trigger.

It won't be much lighter than 10lbs (if any), but will be so much more smoother it will seem lighter.

My first Sigma is a great shooting, inexpensive 16rnd 9mm gun, and my second Sigma will be on it's way back for trigger work within the week.

It will become my truck gun.

$250 + lifetime warranty = deal

i got my sigma used, but its my daily carry, there is nothing wrong with the trigger pull. take it out and put some rounds down range. if you work with your hands like i do (mechanic) then the trigger pull is light.

i have no problems getting 4inch groups at 21ft.

The Sigma is a fine gun and will fill the role of EDC or night stand gun nicely. They are inexpensive but have proven to be reliable. My brother has one in .40 and we smoothed the trigger by sanding the machine marks out of the sear block. That being said, I have 4 Steyrs and must say that they are by far my favorite shooters. I carry a Steyr S40 sub-compact in the winter and can't say enough about its quality and reliability. I also like the unique trigger guard safety on my Steyrs. The Steyr is the only gun I will carry with the safety engaged.

Either gun will serve you well but finding a Steyr for $250 might be difficult.

Like Frank I prefer the Steyr, but the Sigma will most likely serve you well. I know a certain federal LEO who depends upon a Sigma on a daily basis and won't consider another pistol. She does quite well with it. Also, I once shot next to a former Army sniper who was hitting inside the eight ring consistently with a .40 Sigma at 85 yards. While I may prefer the Steyr I won't knock the Sigma. Like most guns, if you work with it, you should be fine.

I have never shot a Steyr but have put a couple rounds down range through a Sigma. While the trigger sure isnt from a target gun, its perfectly serviceable. I came very close to buying one for my mother nut instead got her a 20 gauge.

Every Sigma owner I have met likes their gun.
