I have been collecting polymer framed weapons lately and i have to say from all of the ones i have the trigger pull on the sigmas are in better words "***" lol. So I was wondering how many pounds is on the trigger pull of a s&w sigma??? I realize the trigger pull is much longer than any other pistol i have owned. So I was wondering how can i loosen it myself without causing damage to the pistol?
Its really hard to shoot anything really far away with this one. I heard good reviews on the "NEW" sigmas, its just the trigger pull that is the downfall.Do you guys think that this is a good gun for me to carry around as a self defense weapon? Anybody else have any problems with their sigmas??? (not the old ones) those i heard was pretty bad. lol thanks again everybody

You can get a trigger job on a Sigma. However, once you factor in the cost of the sigma and the cost of a trigger job, you're money ahead to have bought something else. It all depends on how much mone you want to drop on a pistol that will never be anything more than adequate.

That trigger is long, its serves it purpose well. Its a fine weapon for carry, as the long pull could help you from accidental discharges from stress. I think Wolf makes some kinda spring for it to lighten the trigger pull, dont remember, does anyone else?

(I have fired one and they get good reviews, I havent owned one yet sorry)

Search this forum for sigma to find what im talking about.

i have the sigma .40 and all in all a great gun, it has never had a failure to feed or failure to fire (1000 rounds so far through her). the trigger does take some getting used to and ill admit its a heavy pull but for the price you cant beat it. its a great gun

Unlike other striker fired pistols that when the slide is worked compresses the firing pin spring part way. The Sigma has to fully compress the firing pin spring when the trigger is pulled. This is the reason the trigger pull is so hard on the Sigma.
While polishing the moving parts of the trigger and striker will smooth up the trigger pull. The only way to decrease the trigger pull is to replace the striker spring with a lower powered spring like this one.

But...I have read several posts on the S&W forums that the reduced power spring resulted in the primers not being hit hard enough to ignite with some brands of ammo.

The "old" sigmas had better trigger pulls than the "new" sigmas, but they had feed reliability issues when shooting +P+ ammo and sales were stopped. The new sigmas have a stronger sear reset spring (dual spring setup) so +P+ ammo will work.

There is no safe, effective way to get the sigma trigger pull down like a normal glock, XD, or similar. If it bugs you that much, get rid of the sigma and buy something else. You'll be happier in the long term.

Some people "like" the heavier, longer trigger pull of the sigma for concealed carry, night stand use, etc. All short range, high stress situations. Others like the lower cost so much, they'll put up with the trigger pull and learn to do somewhat OK with it. A sigma is what it is and not worth throwing money at to try and make it into something else.

I had one and liked most things about it but the trigger pull was a deal-breaker. I sold it.
