I tried the XD and found it to be unbalanced. The bore axis just made it wobbly to me. A lot of people love them. I have a co worker that sold off his Glocks after buying his first XD.

The Glock is a well proven gun. I tried fondling a couple and found them livable. It was a pretty natural pointer and seemed well balanced.

I passed on both and got a CZ-P07 Duty. The low bore axis and slim line slide just really felt great. It is a little front heavy. You just have to practice keeping your wrist level.

There are a lot of great polymer guns in the price range. Hold them all and see which one works for you. The Glocks and CZs are torture tested to pass high government standards. But, I've also read of Ruger SR9s being run for thousands of rounds between cleanings.

Try them all. You could also take the Pokemon approach and collect them all.

Yeah, my XD is one of a handful of pistols I own that never ever once jammed. I've had many more Glocks and even though they are extremely reliable, only my 26 has been perfect from day one through day whatever. The others have had one or two failures each in their lifetimes.

I have an XD-40 that I've had for 4 years it is a good gun. I actually wanted a Glock before I bought it but I wanted a .40 & that was I believe before Glock improved the case support on their .40's. If you can go to a rental range & see what works better for you. I don't have any experience with the XDm but I would suggest looking at the older XD pistols also as they are good guns & a fair amount cheaper.

My XD has good accuracy. I have shot a couple of Glocks & they were plenty accurate. I personally think that some pistols ergonomics just work better for some shooters than others. As a case in point I also have an older Ruger P944. I usually shoot the XD better than I do the Ruger. I met a friend at the range a while back & let him shoot my pistols. He shot the Ruger slightly better than the XD. Different things work better for different people.

I am eating my words. I posted that i liked the XD. Still do. Yesterday i had a chance to pick up a Glock20C used but like new. For $275.00. Have been thinking about a 10MM for a long time. Could not pass it up.

Or a Beretta PX4 Storm compact, or an M&P 9c, blah, blah, blah. Lot's of good choices out there.

I fired one of the XD compacts in 9mm alongside my Glock, and found both were enjoyable. The only thing I liked better was Glock golfball/bucket sights vs. the XD compact's three-dot.

+1 for "feel them both out" to help you decide.

Personally, I'm going to vote Glock because that is what I'm used to, and the XDs don't offer any incentive for me to change that. On the flip side, if someone were to be accustomed to the XD first, they might not see much of an incentive to change over to the Glock.

Which is why you get both :)

You actually like that configuration? That front sight post is too fat for me and the rear notch isn't very wide. I usually purchase new sights at the same time I pick up a new glock.

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to really confuse myself now and throw an M&P into the mix. Try as I might...I just can't get a good feel for the positive and negative aspects for me until I put a few hundred rounds downrange. Sometimes what I thought was an asset after giving it a once over at the store turns out to be a hindrance...and vice versa.

What is Glock's warranty? Last I knew it was only a year. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That's something to consider here. Springfield will fix your pistol with nearly no questions asked for the lifetime of the gun, if you should have problems. Although, if your XD isn't running right, it's likely something you did or are doing. ;)

To be fair, the odds of needing the warranty on either pistol are very slim, but it's nice to see a company stand behind their products like Springfield does.

Judging from the posts I read Glock must be staying busy with repairs on Gen 4 pistols. ;)

You'd think so! But I had a gen4 17...1000 rounds with no issue. Gen 4 19...2500+ with no issues (still own it) and a gen4 26 (1000) rounds with no issues (still own it, too).

:)

I also owned a completely trouble free Kimber, so maybe I'm just the exception to the norm. :neener:

A trouble free Kimber and 3 trouble free Gen4s? Have you played the lottery recently? ;)

Is the lifetime warranty their policy, or just what they do? Obviously, I will take a company's actions over their policy any day, but I'm curious. When I had my Glock I was under the impression it was only a year. Not that it mattered as I probably would have just threw it in a lake and bought another anyways.

You must be thinking about Kimber with this 1 year warranty stuff.

The thing with Glock is you can go buy some used 2nd, or 3rd hand Gen 2 made in 1991 that's been mistreated, and fired a lot, and send it in to Glock for servicing or upgrading, and you are most like going to have all the work done for free and you will get a very nice gun back as that's how Glock is. Heard that same story many times even though I've never tried it.

Glock is all about their rep, and if they feel that something has compromised that with one of their costumes they are going to jump head over heals to make it right, and make you feel good about your purchase.

Haha, I won't even start on Kimber. I'd hate to get a timeout. ;)

That one year warranty came from the warranty card that came with my pistol. Like I said though, I never had to use it so I wasn't really ever concerned with it and I'll take actions over policies any day.

Glock-- I tried to like the XDM, hard to find anything aftermarket for them, and also lack of mags available locally. Here in GA you can find Glock stuff pretty easily.

What's hard to find? There are several companies that specialize in the XD/XDm. Besides that, the Custom Shop will do just about anything you can think of to your pistols. Also, I have 10 magazines for my XDm and not one was hard to get. Maybe I'm just lucky, I dunno?

Yes...I have actually. Apparently my good luck only goes so far and there is no early retirement for me.

In my defense, I think the good luck with my gen 4 glocks is due to the fact that they all have "0 4" marked springs. I just ran another quick 120 trouble-free rounds (didn't feel like reloading...had 8 mags loaded up and ready to go) through it tonight after the gym...in the rain.

Unless you really dont like the grip.I would vote Glock.Track record speaks for itself.

Man, the OP really started a fire with this one. Two of the best on the market? Hummm.....either one you chose you really couldn't lose. Would personally probably choose the XDm.

i voted XD. i have an XD-45 and XD-40 (both service) as well as a glock 30 and glock 20. I simply like the grip angle of the XD's better. all 4 have been utterly reliable (only had the 20 for a few weeks but its run like a top). you really cant go wrong with either.
