Glock w/manual safety?

I didn't see anything with a cursory Google search, but if that is truly a design somebody proposed, it doesn't seem like a good one to me, either.

I recently read that some government as part of its contract had glocks outfitted with manual safeties as a condition of said contract... but aside from that i don't see them putting them on in the near future.

Sounds like a really dumb idea. Instead of disengaging the safety, you accidentally drop the mag...

(The glock, that is, not just the safety. *runs*)

That would be a dumb design. Very. What if you push it in too far when you're trying to unsafe it? You push too far and you resafe it by clicking it out on the other side. You gotta get it lined up in the middle so it'll fire. Bad.

Maybe these safeties are designed for foreign markets like California, Taxachusetts and New Jersey. If so, they will not affect sales in the United States

I had read of a manual safety on Glocks as an option. I think the big reason was two-fold: (a) to become eligible for government trials and long term military contracts and (2) to maintain a market presence in places like MA & CA where a manual safety on all pistols might be requirement for sales elibility...I think since those mystical military trials are on indefinite hold and further gun control legislation is now focused on a new AWB, that safety might be on the back burner

Put it in its center position, epoxy over it, problem solved.

There is an aftermarket, more conventional (frame mounted lever that pushes down to fire) thumb safety called a Cominoli available for Glocks which is supposed to work quite well, if one must have such a device.

Yes, I've seen and shot a Cominoli saftey equiped Glock. The designer is a super nice guy based in Syracuse, NY.

I doubt its real, Even if it is i wouldnt buy one. I like my glocks just as they are. A safety is Just one more thing to go wrong. I mean, if were going to add a safety switch to a glock, how bout adding a decocking lever to a 1911.

Glock saftey

Guz,
Get your head out of the sand ! It exists and works well. I myself am confident with my own skills and carry a stock unaltered Glock daily but a small group likes something "to click on" for that extra bit of security. Don't buck progress, who knows what they may think of next for our hobby/sport/obsession.............

Alright, so its real. I stand corrected. That dosent mean it makes sense. It takes a pistol that is an extreamly effective and relieble service/deffence pistol and drasticly increases its potential for failure. This cat say NO THANKS!!!!
