I am preparing to buy a Glock with night sights. Night sites cost an additional $95 where I am getting my pistol. The dilemma is whether to get the Glock night sights or the Trijicon night sights. Both cost $95 to have them on the pistol. The thing is that Glock will replace their night sights for free whereas Trijicon charges a fee. What should I do?

Please try to convince me one way or the other. Also, if anyone has pictures comparing the Glock and Trijicon night sites side-by-side, that would be helpful. Thank you.

How is the quality of the Glock night sights in comparison to the quality of the Trijicon night sights? A picture comparing the two would be useful. Thanks.

The Glock night sights free replacement is a very good option.
I am not a big fan of the Glock factory night sights, but that's just me. They are rugged, useable, and they get the job done......which is what you need. I have them on my issued Glock 31 and I don't have anything to complain about as far as their performance.

I personally prefer Warren Tactical sights. I have them on two of my Glocks and they work great. If you haven't heard of them, a web search should come up with some good info.
They were designed by Scott Warren who is the Firearms trainer for the FBI's HRT (Hostage Rescue Team). Their design allows more focus on the front sight. Not great for target shooting, but it can be done.

Wouldn't hurt to be more specific-do you mean they will "install" 'em for free, they will "replace" 'em for free when they go dim (12 yrs?), or ?

If they only install for free, don't know which one I'd choose-if they will replace 'em for free when they dim (which I doubt?), unless they're trash, ain't nuttin' wrong with free!

FWIW-my notes from Trijicon (my Sigma sights are 13 yrs old and usable, but they don't jump out at ya at night like new ones).

12/11/09: Called customer service and was quoted the following prices:
Install replacement lamps in S&W 9mm Sigma for $18 each ($54 total). $54 includes return shipping! (they use the same sites, just "refresh" the tubes)
Install night sights in XDSC40-$99 for sights, $30 for installation-installation price includes return shipping!

If you can replace 'em yourself, or find someone who has a pusher etc, you might do better buying 'em somewhere like Optics Planet, though $95 extra for Trijicons already installed ain't bad and it's hassle free?

Can't be more specific on Glock sights, since I own no Glocks (grip angle never worked for me).

EDIT: Don't know if they've always done so, but the Trijicon front sight is bigger & brighter than the rear sights. I was thinking 'bout going different colors for front/rear, but since my eye is naturally drawn to the front sight (because it's bigger/brighter?), I went with all green.

Well without the free replacement issue, iff'n it was me, I'd go with Trijicons, but unless there's some compelling reason to go with Trijicons (and you'll have to do your own research on Glock night sights), I'd take the free stuff!
'Course, you have to realize unless you have it in writing, a LOT of company policies can change in the 12 yrs before you're going to need 'em replaced. By that time, who knows if Glock will replace 'em for free (and this is the first time I've heard that mentioned, but I don't keep up with Glocks much).

FWIW, I (and I'm sure a lot of others) use Trijicons as a baseline.
'Course, I hear good things 'bout TruGlo sites, but haven't been able to really get my hands on some to play with. Guys at the gun shop got one gun in with TruGlo on 'em from the factory-they say the front sight with it's optic tube really jumps out at you.

I prefer the Glock factory night sights. They have a plastic coating over the white dot, so they keep clean. I tried some other brand, and the plastic circle arround the vial crumbled apart, they warranted the sight but the replacement started to do the same thing.

You might consider various night sights from Glockmeister. They have Meprolights for $72, Glock factory night sights for $75 and Trijicons for $95. If you send them your slide they will install them for minimal or no labor charge plus return shipping. Slides alone can simply be mailed. Link

Sorry to throw in a bit of a tangent from the question. I went through the same thing trying to figure out night sights for my Glock. The trijs and Glock factory sights are fairly similar and I haven't been able to really tell the difference.

That being the case from your question I would go with the Glock sights.

However, I put TruGlo TFO's on my Glocks and haven't been happier. Great sight picture, they show up well in day and night conditions, but the excel over the competition in dusk, dawn and low light conditions where the tritium isn't enough on it's own. They had problems with the vials coming out in earlier productions, but I have sent tons of rounds down range and they have been solid and well worth the $100.

It's just another option, but in my humble opinion, the best option for Glock night sights.

Only bad thing about the TFOs, is you loose an inch of sight radius cause that front sight is sooooo looooong. Does your holster ever knock it off center?
