Glocks Trading For M&P's Why Not Walther

I have read many posts lately from glock owners trading in for M&P's, however, only a few that have traded for the walther P99.

My question is for those who have traded in a glock for a walther P99.
Did you find the P99 better, worse or just different?
Would you make the trade again if you could turn back the clock?

I would think that the relative rarity of the P99 is one of the reasons not many have traded their Glocks for it. Another reason may be why trade Euro for Euro when you can trade Euro for "Made in the U.S.A.?"

P99s seem harder to find in stock than M&Ps. I know at least one local FFL claims the demand for the Walthers is very low since the M&P became popular. Who knows if that's actually true or not. I have an M&Pc and G26. Have had a P99 and P99c. All are good guns. I traded the Walthers off because they didn't fit my hand very well. The depth of the backstrap caused me to wear a hole in the webbing of my hand, no matter which backstrap I tried, and no matter how I gripped it. I consider this a fault in the design of my hand, not the gun as I'm the only one I've heard of who has had this problem.

I also think Walther's unique de-cocking mechanism and trigger guard mag release dissuades people who prefer a more traditional setup.

Aren't Walther's imported by Smith and Wesson? Thus, S&W probably doesn't market them as much as their own models.

I think ccmdfd has it. Not nearly as much marketing going on for the Walther. I'm still curious about the other OP querie, however - anyone switch from the Glock to the M&P and wish you could switch back?

I don't think Walther has ever offered 2 free magazines either... That may be a contributing factor. Personally, I've handled all 3 and really like the M&P best.

I own the M&P .40 full size and honestly I was going to get the P99 first, the M&P showed up as such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Here's my take: The ergonomics on both are fantastic. The M&P feels a bit slimmer from a concealment standpoint, but my bet is the P99QA has a better trigger though from the dry firing I have done. Conclusion: a P99QA may be my next pistol.

I like the P99 better then the M&P, but I would say that the 1 1/2 price difference is why the M&P sells far better. Why trade a Glock, for either one just buy more.

I planned on buying a glock, but ended up with a p99 for my plastic pistol ... so not really a trade. Mine is a first generation DA/SA with a trigger that is hard to beat, short sure reset ...

But, M&P's have caught my eye. I may need to ADD one, it'll take some doing to get the walther out of my starting lineup ...

Well obviously its because the M&P is the greatest pistol ever made (thats glock logic with "M&P" subbed in) frankly I think its a name thing Walther has generally lacked the respect of S&W or Glock. Frankly I want all 3 but for now just have the M&P I think once I decide to get a 9mm I will get a glock. However the glock will come after at least 3 other guns I want including, a Kel-Tec P3AT, A mosin, and an NAA Mini-revolver in .22lr

I gave my P99 to my mother who loves it so much I bought her another. I never cared for the feel of the Walthers. I would much rather have a Glock.
I think about buying an M&P, but then usually buy another Glock. IMO, Glocks have time tested reliability on their side. They are rather ugly, but purely functional. Mags are cheap and parts are cheap.
When I want to look at pretty guns, I pull out my 1911's or HK's.

I don't know about the P99, but I have heard numerous times the SW99 does not share in Glock-like reliability.
