Dear Virginia gun rights supporter,

Finding genuinely committed, true gun rights champions among
candidates for political office is often a frustrating effort.

But in this year's elections to the Virginia State Legislature,
there are at least four solid candidates who will not only vote our
way, but actually lead the fight for the Second Amendment -- even if
it means bucking their party's so-called "leadership" to do so.

If you live any of these four districts (Senate 27, 28, 32 and
House 52), please remember to vote in the Tuesday, June 10th
primary. If you don't know your district, simply stop by
http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm and plug in your zip code
under Elected Officials, then hit the State link.

The four pro-gun candidates below have all officially received the
endorsement of Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund.

27th Senate District

Middleburg Vice-Mayor MARK TATE is running in the 27th district
against RINO (Republican in Name Only) Sen. Russ Potts.

Mayor Mark Tate is a viable candidate who has shown that he can get
elected. And it is obvious that he wants to make a difference in
Richmond, not just go along for the ride.

Imagine. He is a restaurant owner. The association of restaurant
owners is opposed to people being able to carry a concealed firearm
in their establishments.

But Mark Tate is committed to getting rid of the restaurant ban.

This is the kind of integrity GOA looks for when deciding to support
a candidate. We like to see that the candidate has demonstrated a
willingness to buck his peers and stand on principle. That is what
real leaders do.

In contrast, Russ Potts opposes carrying concealed firearms in
restaurants. One of his poison pill amendments aimed at killing
concealed carry was to force concealed carry permit holders to first
submit to having their fingerprints registered -- just like
convicted sex offenders!

But that is hardly the beginning of our problems with Potts.

In 1992, Russ Potts voted for SB 94 that would have banned a number
of common household rifles.

In 1993, he sided with Democrat Governor Douglas Wilder to pass
Sarah Brady's gun ban (HB 2273) and also to impose a one-gun-a-month
rationing and registration scheme here in Virginia.

Potts also voted to strangle gun shows in 1993. He wanted all
sellers to be registered at gun shows, even a guy privately selling
his duck gun or a bookseller engaging in free speech!

If you live in the 27th Senate district, please vote for Mark Tate
on Tuesday, June 10.

28th Senate District

MIKE ROTHFELD is campaigning against Sen. John Chichester, who has a
long record of voting against the Second Amendment and self-defense.

In 1996, Chichester voted to fingerprint concealed carry permit
applicants, treating them like criminals! He did it again in 1997.

Also in 1997, Chichester voted to protect criminals in Richmond City
parks by prohibiting the good guys from carrying guns there.

Perhaps to show just how much he does not like gun owners,
Chichester voted against a constitutional amendment to protect
hunting and fishing.

Sen. Chichester seems to think that penalizing the good guys will
keep guns out of the hands of criminals, so he went along with Sarah
Brady and Handgun Control, Inc.'s agenda to limit Virginians to the
purchase of one gun a month. He actually voted for that scheme
twice in 1993.

In the same year, the Senator also voted for a gun ban (SB 858).

This year Chichester voted to continue criminal safe zones required
for most restaurants. If a restaurant serves wine with dinner,
Chichester did not trust a non-drinking gun owner with a concealed
handgun to act responsibly.

But Mike Rothfeld has worked to advance the right to keep and bear
arms for years. He has helped other pro-gun candidates and has
lobbied in Richmond for Virginia's gun owners.

Mike has paid his dues and has proven that we can count on him to
vote to protect our freedoms.

Not only will Mike vote 100% pro-Second Amendment, but Mike is a
leader. He would be fearless in pushing for recorded votes on
firearms issues -- regardless of the possible opposition of others
in his party.

If you live in the 28th Senate district, please vote for Mike
Rothfeld on Tuesday, June 10.

32nd Senate District

Gun Owners of America's Political Victory Fund has endorsed HOWIE
LIND for Senate in the 32nd District.

Lind was the only candidate in the race to return his GOA candidate
questionnaire. His answers are 100% pro-Second Amendment and
pro-self-defense.

The front page of his website includes a statement that he supports
your Second Amendment rights. He has also been endorsed by pro-gun
champion Senator Ken Cuccinelli (R-37).

In contrast, his primary opponent, Dave Hunt, is considered an
establishment figure -- a "moderate" who has spent a lot of time in
Richmond, working with long-time RINOs like Del. Vance Callahan
(R-34), who is certainly no friend to gun owners.

52nd House District

In the House of Delegates, pro-gun conservative businessman JEFF
FREDERICK is seeking to oust anti-gun Del. Jack Rollison.

The Second Amendment is a highly visible issue in this race. In an
amazing display of speaking out of both sides of his mouth, Rollison
is claiming to support the Second Amendment while trashing Frederick
in public over Jeff's true pro-gun stance.

Rollison has actually called Gun Owners of America, Virginia
Citizen's Defense League, and Jeff Frederick "extremists" and
"militia-esque."

He is sending mail into the district, tarring Jeff for wanting to
remove what he (Rollison) calls "Virginia's common-sense ban on guns
in bars."

That's right. Rollison is a vocal supporter of the infamous
Restaurant Ban, which disarms VA concealed carry permit holders in
every single restaurant that happens to serve beer or wine -- even
if the permit holder is only drinking water with his meal.

In fact, Rollison voted TWICE in 2001 in favor of the ban.

He must hate concealed carry permit holders... he even voted in
1997 (along with notorious gun banner Gladys Keating) to eliminate
CCW reciprocity between Virginia and other states.

Jeff Frederick, on the other hand, is committed to our Second
Amendment rights. He has campaigned at gun clubs and the meetings
of pro-gun organizations like VCDL.

Jeff will be a true leader when it comes to gun rights. Fighting
for the Second Amendment is one of the three major planks in his
campaign platform.

If you live in the 52nd House District, please vote for Jeff
Frederick on Tuesday, June 10.
