Goex FFFG and FFG Equivalency Ratio(s) in loading 56-50 Brass Cartridges

Quick question regarding GOEX Black Powder...I have a few pounds of Goex fffg, and no FFG..I wish to use the triple-F but not sure what the equivalency would be as I believe the triple-f is hotter. It would be for a Spencer 56-50, repro Chiappa...(or anything for that matter) .So 30grains of FF would be what in fff..This sounds much more complicated than it is in writing !!!!

I shoot 29-30g of 3f in my 44-40 Henry and Ballard rifle as well as a 50 caliber Maynard and smith carbine. It will be fine.

JMHO, but I'd have to believe any of the repro's are strong enough so it wouldn't matter which you used. It may make a difference in your groups, but that's about it.

I don't know how to figure out equivalency between 2F and 3f but it's not much. With such a weak load just load 30 grains of 3f and you'll be fine.
The gun is made for 30 grain loads and with a large bore it’d hardly matter which granulation or brand you use.

56-50, isn't that a 56 cal and 50 grains of powder ? So why was it made for 30 or even 45 grains of powder ? Just wondering.

Because the original cases were balloon head cases that held a few grains more. The Starline 56-50 Spencer cases will hold 45 grains of 2F.

for accuracy 10% works for me 3fffg to 2ffg add 10% 2-3 -10% goex to swiss -10% that gives me same point of impact at 50 yrds group is tight enough to hit a clay bird (pigeon) . constantly. Your mileage may vary.
