:confused:I've always used real black GOEX in either FF or FFF. I've had excellent results with it. However, I see GOEX Express and Swiss advertised and I can get them or regular GOEX. Is there an advantage to using the Express or Swiss? Let me know your experiences and how these work for you. Sorry but I'm not interested in data on 777, Pyrodex, or any substitutes as BP is easy and cheaper for me to use........Thanks.....Mike

I switched to swiss about 8 mo. ago it shoots a lot cleaner the goex. found I can reduce my loads by 10% and get the same performance which makes up for the cost differance. it also pours more consistantly. volume to weight. granulation (fines) is more consistant than goex. have not tried express. express is supposed to be better QC than regular. to compete w/ swiss.

I haven't tried Express or Swiss, but know they are cleaner and hotter because they are made with better charcoal than standard Goex. Swiss uses Alder charcoal and Express uses either alder or willow charcoal. Standard Goex uses maple which isn't so great for BP.
Hotter BP= cleaner BP , less slag and fouling.

According to this velocity test report, KIK's velocity may be viewed as being more comparable to Goex Express:

The average velocity produced by KIK brand black powder was 12.4% faster than that produced by the same volume of Goex, and 14.3% faster than that produced by the same volume of Elephant brand.

From this thread:

After searching "Swiss" & reading through some previous threads about Goex and Swiss, Goex is considered good for most practical shooting purposes, but Swiss is favored for competiton and target shooting where accuracy & consistency is more vital.
Express is Goex's step in that direction. :)

Swiss is good stuff. Cleaner than the nomarl poudre noir around this neck of the woods.

I'd be interested in how KIK performs in cartridges. I just ordered 5 lbs of Swiss. Most of what I've read says Swiss tends to be more accurate than Goex for BPCR, but I haven't heard much about Kik.

Swiss

Among the double rifle crowd Swiss has the reputation of being the only BP that you stand a chance of getting a regulated load with in BP cartridge rifles. Otherwsie it's nitro for BP loads. I've never seen it on the shelf though. True BP is getting harder to come by these days.
